Hi everybody!!

Almost mid-week already... How are you all? It's absolutely boiling in Madrid... so today I'm going to the swimming pool!!

In today's post I'm going to show you two new Sewñoritas. For those who don't remember or missed the previous post where I showed you my first wire doll, you can have a look at it by clicking HERE.

So, it turns out that as soon as I sent my friends a photo of the first Sewñorita that I designed, they asked me to make one for them. And so I did! As I told you these Sewñoritas can be used as brooches or necklaces.

This is Sewñorita Natalia, entirely personalised of course. She's wearing all kind of accesories: a handbag, a necklace, and a belt with a flower on it!

Primer encargo!!

Hola!!!

Sorry!

¿Qué os parece?

Que paséis una muy buena semana.

Hi!!!

Today I'm going to show you something I made a while ago which I really enjoyed making. My friend Carol had to give a present to a pregnant friend of hers, so what about buying a handmade present?

So she asked me to make a baby dress. I was really excited by this project because it was the first time someone wanted to buy something that I made,

I got the tutorial from Oh Mother Mine DIY, and also decided to line the dress as it was for a baby and their skin is more sensitive.

The exterior fabric is with pique with blue and brown circles, and it also has a brown ribbon. And the lining is made with cambric fabric.

And here are the pictures! I had a problem... and forgot to take pictures before I left home.. So I had to take some pictures with my phone camera just before I gave her the dress... and the quality is not that good I have to admit. Sorry!

Hope you like it anyway!

Have a good week.

DIY- Pulseras de macramé - Macrame bracalet

Hola!! (scroll down for English version)

Vengo con un tutorial!! Por fin!!! Yujuuu!

- Mechero.

- Tijeras.

Paso a paso:

Hi!!

DIY for today!! Finally!! Woohoo!!

Well, first of all, how are you all? I would rather be on the beach than in Madrid to be honest, but well... we can't have everything in life.

So today I've prepared a summery bracalet DIY. These bracalets are very easy to make and all the materials are easy to find. I've started to sell them and everyone seems to be liking them! If you're not very good at crafts and prefer to buy them you're lucky because they are on sale for 4 only euros! You can send me an email to sewcreativa@gmail.com.

And for those who feel like making them, here's the tutorial:

Materials (picture above):

- Rattail cord.
- Silver beads with big holes in them.
- Lighter.
- Scissors.

Step by step:

1. We first have to cut 5 pieces of rattail cord: 2 pieces of 40cm, 2 pieces of 60cm, and a wee piece of 20cm.

2. Now we have to put the beads through the cords of 40cm. I think it's easier to understand how to do it by looking at the picture. You have to put one of the beads through the two cords at the same time (crossing the cords) and then take two more beads and put one through each cord. And then you have to repeat everything until you like it. And then you have to keep all the beads in the centre of the cords.

3. Next we are going to make macrame knots using the 60cm cords, using one on each side of the bracalet. We have to put the 60cm cord under the two pieces of cord (where the beads end). Then we have to put side A under the two other cords, and take side B over side A, then under the two cords (where the beads are), and lastly we put side B through the hole that is made between side A and the two cords with the beads.

4. Now we have to repeat the whole process again but starting on the other side. So if previously we started taking the part of the cord that is on the right side (side A), now we start with the left side of the cord to make the same macrame knot. And we keep making knots until the bracalet fits around our wrist.

5. We repeat the previous two steps on the other side of the bracalet. When we finish making all the knots we have to cut the excess cord and burn the ends with the lighter.

6. And lastly, we have to make a macrame slipknot, doing the same type of knot as before but between the four cords that we have now, as if we were closing the bracalet. We have to make three or four macrame knots. And we have to cut the excess and burn the ends again.

7. And if you want, you can put 4 more beads on each cord. And that's it! It looks very nice when you wear it and you can make it in lots of different colours. Look how many I made the first time!! (pictures above)

I hope you liked the DIY and if you decide to make it please send me some pics.

Xx.

Sewñoritas

Hola hola!!! (scroll down for English version)

He decidido darlos nombre y todo..

Hi there!!

It's been a while since I last posted something... I'm very sorry.  As you know, I'll be working during the whole summer but luckily I was able to take few days off and I went to bonnie Scotland! Can you believe that it was 25 degrees up there?

And also I've been busy recently because as I told you I set up a mini-stand at my dad's bar to sell all the things that I make. And it's being surprisingly successful, which I wasn't expecting at all! I've had to constantly make lots of stuff (necklaces, bracalets, rings...) and many people have ordered things that they wanted to buy. So that's why I haven't been able to prepare any posts yet.

I was also thinking about posting the things that I sell here, so that you can see them and buy them if you want.

And today  I'm going to tell you about something that I've been thinking about for a few days... and that I finally made! When walking in the streets sometimes I saw people wearing this type of necklaces or brooches, and I decided to make one for myself. And here it is!

What do you think of it? They can be personalized as well. And I decided to give them a name... they are called Sewñoritas! The name is a mixture between the name of my blog and the word for ladies in Spanish.

Last night when I finished my first Sewñorita I was super excited and sent a picture to a few friends. And some of them have already told me to make one for them! So I'm as happy as Larry. I will post all the Sewñoritas here and on my Facebook page.

If you have to give a present to someone or want to buy one for yourselves, you can order them through the email that's on the CONTACT page.

And that's all for today! I promise that the next post will be a tutorial!

Xx.

Boda Handmade! - Handmade wedding!

Hola!!

¡lo he hecho yo!

Hi!!
How are you guys? Have you started your holidays yet?
Those whose answer is yes... I really really envy you!

What do I have for today's post? Well, it turns out that last week I went to a friend's wedding. The wedding was fantastic: very emotional, with lots of little details, delicious food, dancing non-stop until the early hours.... and the bride looked spectacular. But, as you know, weddings are very expensive, and this summer I've been invited to two. So I decided to sew my own dress and make the accesories.

What do you think of it?

I made the dress thanks to the sewing course of Oh Mother Mine DIY that I went to. Each student had to choose a dress and sew it. We looked for the patterns in different magazines, we modified the patterns to get what we wanted to and... voilà! I knew that I wanted to have a lace dress, tight from the neck down to the waist and with a shirred skirt. I bought a piece of lace and a piece of lining in coral. I picked a similar pattern to what I had in mind and with the help of the teacher we modified the pattern a little bit. I have to say that it wasn't that easy to make the dress, especially as it was my first time! I have to thank Marta (the teacher) for all the help and also my boyfriend for his patience zipping up and down my dress hundreds of times and placing pins where I couldn't reach.

But the truth is that the result couldn't have been better. Those of you who are sewing fans surely have had that feeling of wearing a dress or shirt that you've made and someone saying to you... that's nice! And then comes the moment when you feel super proud of youself and say... I made it myself!

The thing is that there are lots of advantages if we make our own clothes: we make the things that we like, nobody is going to be wearing the same as us, it's cheaper, and, at least for me, sewing is a hobby!

Well, you can see above some other pictures with the dress and the fabrics that I used. And also pictures of the accesories, that are also 100% handmade - a hair flower to go with the dress, a ring and earrings. And you can also see a picture of me and my boyfriend at the weeding, so that you can see how the dress looked when I wore it.

Probably my boyfriend's outfit is more striking than mine.... In case you were wondering, yes, he's Scottish, and no, he's not wearing boxers!

Xx.

Valisette - Toilet bag

Hola!!

¿Qué tal? Hace bastante que no publico, lo sé... Sorry!!

Paso a paso. Como hacer un neceser.

Vamos con el DIY!

Materiales:

Paso a paso. Como hacer un neceser.

DIY:

Paso a paso.

Paso a paso.

Paso a paso.

Paso a paso.

Paso a paso. Como hacer un neceser. Paso a paso.

Paso a paso.

Paso a paso. Como hacer un neceser.

Paso a paso. Como hacer un neceser. Paso a paso.

Hi!!!

How's everything? First of all.... sorry for not posting a lot lately... I went away for a few days, and I've been sewing a couple of things that people asked me for. Also I went to a wedding yesterday and I' sewed the dress I wore... I managed to finish it on time! And the result was great! I'll post the pictures soon! And I got a new job at the Prado Museum too! So well, that's why I haven't been able to publish anything... I'll try to find more time for new tutorials!

Anyway, there's a new DIY today! Do you remember that a few weeks ago I posted a purse tutorial? If you want to have a look at it again, click HERE. So today we have something similar... what do you think of this toilet bag with lace edge zip?

I made it a couple of months ago and I've used it a lot. Mine is very small, and I use it for little things that I have in my bag, like make up, clips, etc.

Let's start with the DIY then!

Materials:
  • Two 16 x 22 cm pieces of inside fabric, two of outside fabric, and two of wadding.
  • 1/2 m of bias tape.
  • A 20 cm lace edge zip.
  • Sewing materials: thread, scissors, tailor's chalks, pins...
DIY:

Step 1:  We have to sandwich the wadding with the exterior and the interior fabric. First we place the exterior piece of fabric facing up, then the wadding, and lastly the interior fabric. As you can see in this picture (HERE), we have to fold 1 cm of one of the long sides of each piece of fabric (interior and exterior) to hide the wadding. We put pins to keep it in place. And we can sew this side before sewing the zip so that it doesn't move.

Step 2: Now we have to sew the zip. We pin it to the fabric and then we sew it. (Picture HERE)

Step 3: We have to repeat steps 1 and 2 with the other three pieces of fabric, sew the zip, and then we sew all the rectangle with a zigzag stitch. (Picture HERE)

Step 4: We fold the rectangle with the right sides facing each other, leaving the zip in the centre. Remember to leave the zip a bit open, so that we can turn it around later. And then we sew the edge opposite the zip, and we sew the bias tape to this edge. (Picture HERE)

Step 5: Now we fold the toilet bag as you see in this picture (HERE). And we sew the sides, also across the top of the zip. And again we have to sew the bias tape to these two sides. (Picture HERE)

Step 6: To give the bag extra volume, we have to cut the corners. First put your hands inside and give it the shape that you see in this picture (HERE). We put pins 2 cm from the corners. We sew these 4 corners... and that's it! Toilet bag finished. (Pictures HERE and HERE)

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. As I always say, if you have any doubts give me a shout.

Xx.
