DIY: lazo - bow

Holaaaaaa!!!

¿¿Alguien por ahí?? Por fin asomo un poco la patita por el blog... que el mono me estaba matando!

La verdad, que estoy muy liada, y a eso se debe mi ausencia... Cambios laborales, horarios imposibles, estudios... en fin, mil historias.

Pero bueno, prometo volver de lleno una vez se pase todo este jaleo, y mientras tanto publicaré de vez en cuando, cuando el mono me ataque!

Al lío, que hoy os traigo un DIY resultón y fácil (pero fácil, fácil).  No se tarda más de 5 minutos en hacer, ya veréis.

¡Vamos a ello!

Vamos con el DIY

Paso 1: Cortamos el cuero de forma ovalada con las puntas en pico, como veis en la imagen. También cortamos un pequeño rectángulo.

Paso 2: Plegamos el óvalo por el centro para darle forma de lazo y que quede simétrico.

Paso 3: Rodeamos el lazo con el rectángulo de cuero, solapando los extremos por detrás y lo pegamos con una gotita de pegamento (yo he usado silicona caliente).

Paso 4: Pegamos con otra gota de pegamento la pinza u horquilla por detrás.

Et voilà! Ya tenemos lazo molón de cuero para complementar nuestro look.

¿Os gusta adornaros el pelo? ¡A mi me encanta! Sobre todo para esos días en que vamos con un look que parece demasiado sencillo, me parece que le da el toque ideal.

Is there anyone out there?? I'm back! Finally... I couldn't wait any longer to be back writing again, and showing you some cute things that I've made recently. 

Although I have to admit, that I'm very very busy. I've had some job-related changes, difficult timetables, having to focus on my studies... A thousand things that left me no time to write.

But I promise that once I finish everything, I will be back. And meanwhile I'll try to post every now and again.

Anyway, let's get to the point. Today's DIY is a very easy one (easy peasy) and looks very nice when you wear it.

Let's start with the DIY

Step 1: Cut the leather in an oval shape, but leaving both ends sharp instead of rounded. Also cut a small rectangle.

Step 2: Fold the oval in the middle with your hand, to make it look like a bow. Make sure that it is symmetric!

Step 3: Place the rectangle that we cut in the first step around the center of the bow, overlapping it behind. Stick it with a drop of glue (I used hot glue).

Step 4: Stick the bobby pin to the bow with a bit of glue.

Et voilà! Leather bow finished!

DIY collar étnico - ethnic necklace

Hoy tenemos DIY!!! Bieeeen!

Un collar que seguro os va a encantar. Fácil de hacer y tendencia: banderín étnico con estampado de cuadros escoceses.

Pero antes os quería contar algo. Habréis visto que últimamente publico menos, y he comprobado que aún así mi media de visitas no está bajando, más bien al contrario. Los que tengáis un blog os habréis dado cuenta de que el contenido es una parte importantísima: tiene que ser de calidad, satisfaccer a nuestros lectores y original. Pero casi más  importante diría yo es la promoción. Si no promocionamos el blog, es imposible que nos lean. Yo he aprendido a hacerlo gracias al curso de Blanca de Personalización de blogs. Los que conozcáis su blog sabréis que ella cuenta las cosas sin tapujos, sin andarse por las ramas. Y eso mismo hace en sus curso, va al grano. A ella le está yendo muy muy bien con su blog, así que todos sus consejos son bienvenidos para mi. Por eso confío en ella, en sus cursos, en sus consejos, en sus tutoriales, y sin dudarlo lo aplico a mi blog. ¡Y está dando resultado! Gracias a su curso sobre Cómo promocionar tu blog, mis estadisticas no se ven afectadas porque no publique tan a menudo, y estoy consiguiendo más seguidores cada vez. Así que estoy contentísima con el dinero invertido y todo lo que he aprendido en sus cursos.

Me dejo de rollos y vamos a la parte guay, al tutorial.

MATERIALES

- Retal de tela, yo he cogido una de cuadros escoceses.

- Lana.

- Cadena.

- Hilo de aluminio.

- Cartón y papel.

- Alicates de putna redonda.

- Tijeras, aguja, hilo, y máquina de coser (si tenemos).

PASO A PASO

Primero vamos a hacer la borla. Para ello enrollamos lana en el cartón. Yo he dado unas 20 vueltas. Pasamos la lana por detrás de las vueltas que hemos dado y hacemos un nudito. Cortamos por la parte de abajo la lana. 

Damos un par de vueltas alrededor de las tiras de lana formando una bolita. La anudamos y sacamos la hebra de lana por arriba.

Ahora hacemos el banderín. Primero lo dibujamos en un trocito de papel. El que yo he hecho es de 6cm x 10cm. Lo copiamos dos veces en la tela y recortamos.

Cosemos las dos telas, con los lados del derecho hacia dentro, y colocamos la borla dentro del banderín con la ebra que habíamos sacado por el pico del banderín., como se ve en la foto. Cosemos todos los lados excepto el de arriba del todo.

Le damos la vuelta por la abertura y lo planchamos. Ahora hacemos un dobladillo doble en la parte de arriba, es decir lo dobalmos dos veces, y lo cosemos dejando un agujerito que es por donde irá el hilo de aluminio.

Metemos la cadena en el aluminio y formamos un circulo con los alicates para cerrarlo. Ahora introducimos el aluminio por el otro extremo entre el agujerito del banderín y metemos el otro extremo de la cadena y lo cerramos.

ENGLISH VERSION

DIY today!! Woohoo!!

We are going to make a really nice necklace. Easy to make and trendy: a tartan pennant necklace.

But before starting with the tutorial, I wanted to tell you something. As you might have realised, I've been posting less frequently lately, but the views have not gone down, just the opposite. Those of you who already have a blog will know that what we write is very important:: it has to be original and has to satisfy our readers. But the way we promote our blog is even more important. If we don't promote our blog, we don't get any readers. I've learnt how to do it properly thanks to Blanca, from the blog Personalización de blogs. She has a course, in Spanish, about how to promote your blog, which has been really worth it for me. She explains all the diffferent methods to promote in a very clear way, straight to the point. And that's why I can post less frequently if I need to and my statistics will still be the same. So I really recommend her courses if you understand Spanish and want to learn about this topic.

And now, let's get to the fun part of today's post, the DIY.

MATERIALS

- A bit of fabric, I chose a tartan one.

- Wool.

- A chain.

- Wire thread.

- Cardboard and paper.

- Round nose pliers.

- Scissors, needle, thread, and sewing machine (if you have one).

STEP BY STEP

First we are going to make the tassel. We wrap some of the wool around the cardboard. Then we tuck the wool between the cardboard and the wool that we've wrapped and we make a knot at the top. And then we cut the wool at the bottom.

Now take the loose piece of wool and wrap it around all the threads, making a small ball at the top. And we make a knot and take the end out at the top of the tassel.

Now we are going to make the pennant. First we have to draw it on a bit of paper. The one I made measured 6cm x 10cm. We copy it twice on the fabric and cut it.

Now we sew the two pieces of fabric together, with the right sides facing each other and the tassel inside as you can see in the picture above. We sew all the sides but the top one.

We turn it around through the hole that we had left and iron it. Now we make a double turn up at the side that we hadn't sewn and we sew it, leaving two holes at each side of the turn up so we can put the wire through it.

Now we put the chain in the wire thread, and we make a circle with the pliers to close it. And then we put the wire inside the pennant and we do the same with the chain on the other side of the wire to close it.

Done!

Boda Handmade! - Handmade wedding!

Hola!!

¿Qué tal estáis? ¿De vacaciones ya?

Aquellos que respondáis si... que sepáis que me muero de envidia!

¿Qué os traigo hoy? Bueno, resulta que la semana pasada fui a una boda de una amiga. La boda estuvo genial: emotiva, con muchos detalles, comimos de lujo, bailamos hasta las tantas sin parar... Y la novia iba espectacular. Pero, como ya sabéis, las bodas son carísimas, y para colmo este verano tengo dos. Así que para esta boda decidí hacerme yo misma el vestido y los complementos!

¿Qué os parece?

El vestido le hice gracias al curso de costura de Oh Mother Mine DIY. En sus clases decidimos que cada alumna nos haríamos un vestido como último proyecto. Buscamos patrones en revistas, los modificamos a nuestros gustos y... voilà! Yo tenía claro que quería un vestido de encaje, ajustado al cuerpo y con corte en la cintura y falda fruncida. Compré las telas en color coral, una de encaje y otra para el forro. Cogimos un patrón similar y le modificamos la parte de los hombros. He de reconocer que me costó confeccionarlo, era la primera vez que me hacía un vestido y tuve que echarle bastantes horas y mucha paciencia. Y aquí tengo que agradecer a Marta por su ayuda en las clases y a mi chico por su paciencia subiendo y bajándome la cremallera un millón de veces, cogiéndome alfileres donde yo no llegaba... etc.

Pero la verdad que el resultado fue inmejorable. Las que sois costureras, sobre todo las principiantes como yo, seguro que habéis tenido la misma sensación que yo cuando te confeccionas alguna prenda de vestir y el día que la estrenas te dicen... ¡qué bonito! Y aquí llega el momento en que te llenas de orgullo y dices... ¡lo he hecho yo! 

Y es que las ventajas de hacernos nosotras mismas la ropa son infinitas: nos la hacemos a nuestro gusto, nadie va a tener un vestido/camisa/falda igual, nos sale muy económico, nos lo adaptamos perfectamente a nuestro cuerpo... y encima, por lo menos para mi, coser es un hobby!

Bueno por últimos os dejo unas fotos más para que veáis los detalles del vestido y las telas. Y también los accesorios, que también son 100% handmade! Flor para el pelo a juego con el vestido, anillo y pendientes.

Y os dejo también con una foto para que me veáis con el conjunto puesto. No sé si os llamará más la atención mi atuendo o el de mi novio... Por si alguno os lo preguntáis... sí, es escocés de pura cepa, y no, no llevaba calzoncillos!

How are you guys? Have you started your holidays yet?

Those whose answer is yes... I really really envy you!

What do I have for today's post? Well, it turns out that last week I went to a friend's wedding. The wedding was fantastic: very emotional, with lots of little details, delicious food, dancing non-stop until the early hours.... and the bride looked spectacular. But, as you know, weddings are very expensive, and this summer I've been invited to two. So I decided to sew my own dress and make the accesories.

What do you think of it?

I made the dress thanks to the sewing course of Oh Mother Mine DIY that I went to. Each student had to choose a dress and sew it. We looked for the patterns in different magazines, we modified the patterns to get what we wanted to and... voilà! I knew that I wanted to have a lace dress, tight from the neck down to the waist and with a shirred skirt. I bought a piece of lace and a piece of lining in coral. I picked a similar pattern to what I had in mind and with the help of the teacher we modified the pattern a little bit. I have to say that it wasn't that easy to make the dress, especially as it was my first time! I have to thank Marta (the teacher) for all the help and also my boyfriend for his patience zipping up and down my dress hundreds of times and placing pins where I couldn't reach.

But the truth is that the result couldn't have been better. Those of you who are sewing fans surely have had that feeling of wearing a dress or shirt that you've made and someone saying to you... that's nice! And then comes the moment when you feel super proud of youself and say... I made it myself! 

The thing is that there are lots of advantages if we make our own clothes: we make the things that we like, nobody is going to be wearing the same as us, it's cheaper, and, at least for me, sewing is a hobby!

Well, you can see above some other pictures with the dress and the fabrics that I used. And also pictures of the accesories, that are also 100% handmade - a hair flower to go with the dress, a ring and earrings. And you can also see a picture of me and my boyfriend at the weeding, so that you can see how the dress looked when I wore it.

Probably my boyfriend's outfit is more striking than mine.... In case you were wondering, yes, he's Scottish, and no, he's not wearing boxers!
