DIY: Decora con spray - Spray deco

Hoy os traigo un DIY super molón. Tuve la suerte de ser una de las bloggers elegidas por Handbox para participar en el Desafío Craftlover con Novasol Spray y no dudé ni un segundo en participar.

Si os soy sincera, no había usado puntar en spray nunca y tenía unas ganas tremendas de probarlo para algún DIY, así que no podía tener una excusa mejor para lanzarme a ello. La temática para este desafío es Homedecor, así que pensé en que tenía que decorar varias paredes que tengo un poco vacías (uno de los problemas de vivir de alquiler). Tras mucho darle vueltas decidí hacer unos cuadros chiquititos usando Pintyplus Basic cobre. Y este ha sido el resultado. 

¿Os gusta? ¡Pues vamos con el tutorial!

Materiales:

- Spray Pintiplus color cobre. 

- Dos mini-lienzos.

- Una pluma.

- Una hoja.

- Washi tape.

DIY:

Empezamos con el lienzo con la hoja pintada en cobre.

Primero ponemos un poco de washi tape por detrás de la hoja para poder pegarla a un folio. 

Después rociamos la hoja con el spray, asegurándonos de la cubre bien, y dejamos secar.

Por último, pegamos la hoja al lienzo. Y ya tenemos nuestro primer cuadrito.

Ahora vamos a por el de la pluma. El procedimiento es muy similar.

Pegamos la pluma con washi tape al lienzo directamente. 

Echamos spray tratando de que el color quede homogéneo en el lienzo.

Quitamos la pluma,, y ¡listo!

Cool DIY for today. I was one of the bloggers chosen by Handbox to participate in a Craftlover Challenge with Novasol Spray and I didn't doubt for a minute that I wanted to take part in this challenge.

To be honest, I had never used spray paint before, but I really wanted to try it out with a DIY project. The topic of this DIY was related to homedecor, so I thought that it would be good to create something for my bare walls (that's the problem of living in a rented house). So after thinking about it for a while, I decided to create these small pictures to hang on one of the walls. 

Do you like how they look? So let's start with the DIY.

Supplies:

- Spray Pintyplus (I chose copper). 

- Two small canvas.

- A feather.

- A leaf.

- Washi tape.

DIY:

We are going to start with the canvas with the leaf painted in copper.

First put a bit of washi tape behind the leaf and stick it to a piece of paper.

After this spray the leaf, making sure that it is completely covered, and let it dry.

Lastly, stick the leaf to the canvas. And that's it, our first picture is finished.

Now let's make the canvas with the feather; the process is really similar to the previous one.

Stick the feather to the canvas with a bit of washi tape.

Spray the canvas, making sure there are no gaps.

Take the feather out, and done!

DIY: lazo - bow

Holaaaaaa!!!

¿¿Alguien por ahí?? Por fin asomo un poco la patita por el blog... que el mono me estaba matando!

La verdad, que estoy muy liada, y a eso se debe mi ausencia... Cambios laborales, horarios imposibles, estudios... en fin, mil historias.

Pero bueno, prometo volver de lleno una vez se pase todo este jaleo, y mientras tanto publicaré de vez en cuando, cuando el mono me ataque!

Al lío, que hoy os traigo un DIY resultón y fácil (pero fácil, fácil).  No se tarda más de 5 minutos en hacer, ya veréis.

¡Vamos a ello!

Vamos con el DIY

Paso 1: Cortamos el cuero de forma ovalada con las puntas en pico, como veis en la imagen. También cortamos un pequeño rectángulo.

Paso 2: Plegamos el óvalo por el centro para darle forma de lazo y que quede simétrico.

Paso 3: Rodeamos el lazo con el rectángulo de cuero, solapando los extremos por detrás y lo pegamos con una gotita de pegamento (yo he usado silicona caliente).

Paso 4: Pegamos con otra gota de pegamento la pinza u horquilla por detrás.

Et voilà! Ya tenemos lazo molón de cuero para complementar nuestro look.

¿Os gusta adornaros el pelo? ¡A mi me encanta! Sobre todo para esos días en que vamos con un look que parece demasiado sencillo, me parece que le da el toque ideal.

Is there anyone out there?? I'm back! Finally... I couldn't wait any longer to be back writing again, and showing you some cute things that I've made recently. 

Although I have to admit, that I'm very very busy. I've had some job-related changes, difficult timetables, having to focus on my studies... A thousand things that left me no time to write.

But I promise that once I finish everything, I will be back. And meanwhile I'll try to post every now and again.

Anyway, let's get to the point. Today's DIY is a very easy one (easy peasy) and looks very nice when you wear it.

Let's start with the DIY

Step 1: Cut the leather in an oval shape, but leaving both ends sharp instead of rounded. Also cut a small rectangle.

Step 2: Fold the oval in the middle with your hand, to make it look like a bow. Make sure that it is symmetric!

Step 3: Place the rectangle that we cut in the first step around the center of the bow, overlapping it behind. Stick it with a drop of glue (I used hot glue).

Step 4: Stick the bobby pin to the bow with a bit of glue.

Et voilà! Leather bow finished!

DIY Hunters Day

Con un poquito de retraso, aquí viene mi crónica de lo que fue el eventazo del fin de semana pasado.

Os cuento, para las que no sepáis de qué va esto.... Yo Dona y Handbox organizaron el DIY Hunters day el pasado sábado en Madrid. Fue un evento increíble, donde hubo de todo. Formación, charlas, talleres, venta de artículos preciosos, catering y hasta regalos.

Yo ya había tenido la oportunidad de asistir a más eventos de DIY, pero sin duda alguna, este no tuvo nada que ver. En este evento puedo decir que disfruté, aprendí, y tuve la oportunidad de oír a maestras del blogging que nos contaron sus experiencias.

Por la mañana tuvimos la parte de formación pura y dura. Conferencias, mesas redondas... todas ellas de la mano de grandes profesionales del DIY y marcas que colaboran con bloggers. 

Para que os hagáis una idea del nivelazo que había os menciono a algunos de los bloggers y marcas que participaron: Marta Barberá de 2nd funniest thing, Anna Díez de Fácil y Sencillo, Silvia Buján de Na Lua Dulce, Cristina Rodríguez de Mi armario coqueto, Laura Maroto de Trasteando DIY, Javier Barquín de Yo no lo tiraría, Rosa Montesa de Reciclado Creativo, Chris Bravo de Little Hannah, Ana Bolena de Hermanas Bolena, Mónica Diago de El taller de las cosas bonitas, Mar Ramos y María Alonso de Hello Creatividad, Carmen Tébar de Mi lowcostblog, Bárbara Solorzano de Mi cesta de mimbre, Ecoembes, Signus, Correos, Almacenes Cobian, Leroy Merlin y Novasol Spray. Como veis, un cartel inmejorable.

Para mi fue un puntazo el hecho de que no solo las blogueras nos contaron sus experiencias, sino que hablaron de un gran abanico de puntos determinantes a la hora de tener un blog de éxito: coolhunting, fotografía, organización....  También me gustó que no solo nos ofrecieron el punto de vista de los bloggers, sino también el de las marcas que se interesan por este sector y colaboran de una forma o de otra con ellos.

Se dio también mucha importancia a la unión entre el mundo crafter y el reciclaje, ya que para cualquier amante de las manualidades este punto es básico. Y es que muchas veces acumulamos objetos y objetos pensando en darles una segunda vida.

Un ejemplo de esto último es este maravilloso vestido de novia. ¿Adivináis con qué está hecho? ¡Con vasos de plástico!

Después del picoteo llegó el turno para el speed-dating. Tuvimos la posibilidad de preguntar a varios profesionales del DIY las dudas que tuviéramos, o simplemente pedir consejo. Para mi la única que pega que le pongo al evento fue que esta actividad me pareció muy corta, pues todos los asistentes queríamos preguntar algo, y no hubo tiempo para pasar por las 4 mesas.

Por último ofrecieron una grandísima variedad de talleres, de la mano de grandes blogueros, a los que desgraciadamente no me pude quedar. Me dio una pena enorme, porque me consta que fueron geniales.

Y antes de irnos, pasamos por mostrador para recoger esta caja con todos estos regalos tan molones. En resumen, un evento completísimo, muy muy bien organizado, del que me llevé muy buen sabor de boca. Como ideas claves me quedé con la importancia de estar al día de todo lo que pasa, (tanto en las redes como en la calle), si quieres vender, tienes que saber fotografiar, y el DIY es tendencia, ahora la gente está cansada de ir igual que el resto, mola poder personalizarnos la ropa, la decoración o cualquier cosa que se nos ocurra.

A bit late maybe but here I am to tell you about my experience at the DIY Hunters Day. Last week I had the opportunity to attend this fabulous event that took place in Madrid, organized by Yo Dona and Handbox. It was a very complete event. There were various conferences about DIY, workshops, stands with beautiful products, a yummy catering and even some gifts!

I had already gone to some other DIY-related events, but without doubt, this one has been the best. I learnt, enjoyed and met really nice people that share the same interests with me. I also had the chance to listen to some of the best DIY bloggers in Spain who told us about their experience and gave us some advice.

In the morning, all the conferences took place. They weren't only about the blogger's experiences, but also about how to colaborate with different brands.

They also mentioned how recycling and DIY are linked, and how important this fact is. It's funny to see how other bloggers do the same as me, they keep loads of things thinking that they will eventually use them for something else...

And talking about reclycling, can you guess what this wedding dress has been made with? With plastic glasses!!

After having some delicious food we had speed-dating with different bloggers. So we could ask them whatever we needed to know or ask them for advice. The only problem is that there wasn't enough time to get round all of them.

And lastly, there were lots of workshops to join. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long enough to go to one of them, which I would have loved, because I'm sure they were all great.

And before we left, they gave us a box full of little gifts for our future DIY projects. So to sum up, it was an enriching experience, very well organised, that I enjoyed and I'm sure I will take advantage of. The key ideas that I kept from the event are the following: you need to be aware of every new trend that comes up; if you want to sell something, you first need to learn to take a good picture of it; and DIY is a trend at the moment, we are tired of wearing all the same clothes, so let's customise everything with our own hands!

Top Ten de Blogs de Trapillo - Top Ten Zpagetti Blogs

¡Hola!

Os hoy traigo otro Top Ten ¿Recordáis el que hice hace unos meses sobre blogs de costura? Tuvo mucho éxito, así que he decido hacer otro sobre blogs en los que enseñan a crear cosas preciosas en trapillo. Además, llega el calorcito y es la mejor época para el trapillo, puedes hacer de todo: collares, pulseras, cestas, capazos, bolsos muy coloridos... Echando un ojo a estos blogs puedes aprender a hacer preciosidades. ¡Allí vamos!

1. Susimiu: Este blog, que curiosamente descubrí hace poco tiempo relativamente, se ha convertido en uno de mis preferidos. Hace unas alfombras de morirte, que o bien puedes comprar o bien puedes hacer tú misma siguiendo sus tutoriales. Además tiene una tienda online en la que encontrarás una increíble variedad de colores. No tiene desperdicio.

2. Knitandlove: Este es un blog muy completo también, en el que podréis aprender a tejer los puntos básicos en trapillo y a hacer vuestros propios bolsos siguiendo sus tutoriales.

3. Santa Pazienzia: Estefanía nos enseña a hacer unos diseños muy originales y variados. Todos sus video-tutoriales están muy bien explicados, seguro que os encanta.

4. Mary Mary Sweet designs: El blog de Carmen Mary es un blog muy variado, en el que podréis encontrar además de tutoriales de trapillo ideales, recetas deliciosas, DIY, freebies...

5. Emérita desastre: Otro blog variadito, cuya sección de trapillo me encanta. Podéis aprender a hacer desde desde portavelas, cestas, funda para tablet hasta arbolitos de Navidad.

6. Happy projects design: Eva tira de trapillo para cualquier cosa. Tanto para hacer un telar, una cesta para la bici, como para decorar su caravana, que le quedó super chula. No os perdáis su blog.

7. DIY by Paula: Otro blog precioso con una sección de trapillo sin desperdicio. Me quedo con su variedad de cestas y su combinación de colores.

8. F de fifi: Puffs, alfombras, y muchos otros tutoriales podrás encontrar en este blog. Además de un sinfín de cosas relacionadas con todo tipo de manualidades.

9. El Blog de Trapillo: Contiene un inmenso recopilatorio de tutoriales de trapillo. En él aprenderéis a hacer de todo, os lo aseguro.

10. Lady Crochet: En este blog encontraréis tutoriales muy originales, que os servirán para customizar bolsos, sandalias o hasta haceros vuestro propio bolso.

DIY bastidor - hoop

Vuelvo por aquí, ¡por fin! ¿Cómo lleváis el comienzo de la primavera? Yo encantada, con este solecito da gusto salir a la calle.

Hoy os traigo un DIY de un bastidor que hice hace unos meses, y aún no os había enseñado. Un poquito antes de Navidad descubrí en Pinterest unos bastidores de decoración que me encantaron. En mi cuenta podréis ver el tablero que tengo repleto de bastidores.

Y decidí que yo también quería el mío. Así que me puse manos a la obra. Si queréis el vuestro, aquí tenéis el tutorial.

MATERIALES

- Un bastidor 

- Dos retales de tela (uno que sea cómo mínimo del tamaño del bastidor)

- Hilos de bordar

- Aguja, dedal, jaboncillo de sastre y tijeras

- Pegamento textil

DIY

Primero dibujamos con el jaboncillo la palabra que queremos bordar. Colocamos la tela donde vamos a hacer el bordado en el bastidor y comenzamos a coser sobre la palabra que hemos escrito. Yo he dado puntadas grandes y con varios hilos para que quedase más grueso y se viera mejor la palabra.Y además cada letra de la palabra smile la he hecho con un color diferente.

Además he querido adornarlo un poco, y el punto de la i lo he hecho con un trocito de la otra tela en forma de corazón y he puesto una cámara de fotos de otro retal de tela que me sobró de este clutch que hice hace tiempo. Ambos adornos los he cosido a la tela.

Lo siguiente que he hecho es cortar varias tiras de la otra tela. Y las he pegado enrolladas al bastidor con el pegamento textil.

Después recortamos la tela dejando tres centímetros de sobrante y lo pegamos por detrás del bastidor.

Y por último le he puesto una cinta para poderlo colgar. ¡Listo! ¿Qué os parece? ¿Os gusta la idea de decorar la casa con bastidores?

Hi everyone!

I'm back again! How's the spring going? I'm trying to make the most of it. I love the sun and this nice weather, so I try to go out as often as I can.

Here's a new DIY. It's an embroided hoop that I made a few months ago to decorate our room. I love using hoops for decorating, you can find my favourite ones on my Pinterest profile.

So I decided to make this one. If you also want to have one, you just have to follow this tutorial.

MATERIALS

- A hoop

- Two pieces of fabric (one has to be at least the size of the hoop)

- Embroidery threads

- Needle, scissors and tailor's chalk

- Fabric glue

DIY

First, draw the word that you want to embroider with the chalk. Now put the fabric in the hoop and sew the word that you wrote. I've done it with a thick thread and with big stitches, so that it's easier to read. And I've used a different colour for every thread.

Then I decided to decorate the hoop a bit more, so instead of just sewing the dot of the letter 'i', I've done it with a bit of fabric. And I also sewed a photo camera from fabric that I had from this clutch that I made some time ago.

After that I cut a few strips of the other fabric and I stuck them around the hoop.

Then cut the excess of fabric around the hoop leaving a 3cm margin that you will stick behind the hoop.

And lastly put some ribbon at the top of the hoop to be able to hang it. Done! What do you think of it? Do you also like decorating with hoops?

DIY Camiseta Joya

Hola!!

Para hoy os he traído un DIY super super fácil. Llega el buen tiempo y yo no sé vosotras, pero a mí me entran unas ganas de poner ropa colorida y sandalias que no puedo! Así que he customizado esta camiseta, para pasar de una camiseta blanca básica a una camiseta personalizada y única que seguro que triunfa en vuestros looks. Yo cogí la idea de mi amiga Irene, que llevó una muy parecida a un cumpleaños y me encantó. Ya sabéis, la inspiración la podéis encontrar en cualquier sitio.

Es un DIY muy económico. Solamente necesitáis una camiseta básica, del color que queráis. Podéis reutilizar alguna que ya no os pongáis porque la veis demasiado simple o sosa, y así además reciclamos. Además necesitaréis algunos abalorios que se puedan coser (con dos agujeros). Yo estos los compré en Almacenes Cobián. Hilo blanco, aguja... y poco más.

El DIY es sencillisimo como os he dicho.

Primero preparamos los materiales, y disponemos las piedras de forma que veamos que nos gusta el diseño. A mi me gusta ir alternando formas y colores, pero podéis hacerlo con todas las piedras del mismo color y forma.. eso ya cómo vosotras veáis.

Y simplemente tenéis que ir cosiendo las piedras una a una hasta que os quede como os gusta. Darle bastantes puntadas para que no se os caigan con el tiempo.

¡Y ya está! ¡No tenéis excusa para ir monísimas con ropa diseñada por vosotras mismas!

Super-easy DIY today!! Woohoo! March has started and days are becoming sunnier, and I don't know how you feel, but I only want to wear colourful clothes and sandals! So this time I've customised a t-shirt. I used a plain white t-shirt, and I tunred it into a personalised and unique t-shirt that I'm sure you'll love. I took the idea from my friend Irene, who was wearing a similar one at a birthday party and I loved it as soon as I saw it. As you know, you can find inspiration anywhere.

It's also a very cheap DIY. You just need a basic t-shirt. You can recycle one that you don't use anymore because you think it's too simple. You'll also need some beads that you can sew to the t-shirt, white thread and a needle.

And as I said it's a very easy DIY.

First, prepare all the materials, putting all the beads around the neck of the t-shirt to decide how you want it to look. I've combined different shapes and colours, but you can do it with all the beads of the same colour or shape...it's up to you!

And you just have to sew all the beads one by one until you like it. You need to go over the stitch again a few times to fix it properly so that they don't come out.

And done! You don't have any excuse not to wear a beautiful t-shirt that you have designed youself!

¡Diseño nuevo! - New design!

¡Hola!

¿Qué tal empieza el finde? Con frío, ¿verdad? En Madrid hoy hace el típico día de sofá, peli y mantita... Así que ya sabéis mi plan para hoy.

Bueno, os traigo un post super super rápido, para contaros que he cambiado el diseño de arriba a abajo. Bueno, supongo que lo habréis notado, ¡salta a la vista! 

Para que veáis el cambio, así era mi blog ayer.

Y así es como está hoy.

Falta le hacía ya... Desde que empecé el blog hace más de un año no había vuelto a tocar el diseño... Y es verdad que yo era consciente de que necesitaba un cambio, pero por pereza no lo hacía. Los que tengáis un blog, sabréis que es super importante tener un blog bonito, agradable a la vista, para que los lectores se queden en él. Esto hará que tengamos más seguidores, que es lo que todos queremos.

Lo ideal sería poder contratar un diseño porfesional, pero es algo que yo no podía permitirme, así que decidí hacerlo por mi misma. Y la ventaja de esto es que aprendes a diseñar cada parte del blog, y si llega un momento en el que algo no te gusta, lo puedes cambiar. 

¿Cómo lo he hecho yo?

Lo primero, me abrí un blog de pruebas, en el que he ido poniendto la nueva cabecera ( con el logo que me diseñó mi amiga Raquel), los gadgets, el menú de páginas... Y cuando más o menos ví que ya lo tenía como me gustaba, he hecho los cambios en este blog. La verdad que yo no he tardado mucho, todo es ponerse, así que si estáis dudando entre hacerlo o no, y os da pereza, os recomiendo que lo hagáis, que luego una se siente muy orgullosa.

Todos los cambios los he hecho gracias a varios blogs. Yo no tengo NI IDEA de diseño de blogs, ni de CSS, ni de HTML, pero siguiendo algún tutorial y unos libros he conseguido hacerme con el diseño.

El primer blog que he seguido al dedillo es el de Personalización de blogs. Antes de abrir el blog me compré el Curso Iniciación a Blogger y ahora me lo he reléido para modificar todo el diseño. Es un curso muy clarito, que te explica cómo diseñar las diferentes partes del blog (gadgets, cabecera, títulos...) y a instalarlos correctamente en el blog. Y tiene un segundo Curso para Blogueras que viene muy bien para profundizar más sobre el tema. Yo no habría sido capaz hacer nada de lo que he hecho sin hacer esta mínima inversión, y de verdad os digo que merece la pena. No hay nada más satisfactorio que aprender a hacer las cosas por tí misma.

Y otro de los blogs que me sé de pé a pá de tanto leerlo y releerlo es el de Miss Lavanda. Tiene tutoriales super útiles, y consejos muy buenos. Sin ir más lejos, la barra de arriba morada la he diseñado gracias a ella.

Todavía me quedan algunas cosillas por cambiar, otros gadgets que añadir.. Pero en general, estoy contenta con la nueva imagen, que le dá un aspecto más limpio y profesional, y croe que es mucho más cómodo navegar en el blog gracias a los diferentes apartados que he añadido.

Y ahora decidme... ¿si un blog no os gusta, seguís leyéndolo?

The weekend has started!! Yeah!! Cold, isn't it? Here in Madrid it's quite cold today... I think tonight is going to be the perfect night for watching a film at home!

So, today I just wanted to tell you about my new blog design, that I've changed quite a lot. Well, I guess you've already noticed.

Since I started the blog I hadn't changed the design, and I thought it was time to do it. I knew it needed a makeover, but I was kind of lazy and that's why I hadn't done it until now. For those of you who have a blog, you surely know that having a "good-looking" blog is very important, as readers will want to keep looking at it. So therefore, we'll get more followers, which is what we want.


The best option is to get a professional designer, but I couldn't afford it, so I decided to do it by myself. That has an advantage, which is that if you want to change something that you've done, you can do it easily.

How did I do it?

First of all, I started another blog, to try the design before installing it on my current blog. And I started creating the header, the widgets... When it was more or less finished, I made all the changes on this blog.

Everything I did I learnt on different blogs, as I had no idea at all about blog design, or HTML, or CSS... but following various tutorials I've managed to get what I wanted.

The first blog that I followed is Personalización de blogs. Before starting the blog I bought one of her courses, and now I've read it again in order to be able to modify the design. It's an easy book to follow. You will learn how to create the different parts of the blog (header, widgets, titles...) and install it correctly. And on this blog you can also find another book, which teaches you more things about the blog design, in case you want to go a step further and make it look professional. It's really worth buying these two books, as it's very satisfactory to be able to do things by ourselves.

And the other blog that I recommend is Miss Lavanda. She has really easy tutorials, where you can learn, for example, to make the navigation bar that I have on top of the body of the blog.

I still have a few things to change, and a few widgets to add... But in general I'm very happy with my new blog.

Entrevista a Marta del Blog Canela y Naranja

¿Qué tal lleváis la resaca carnavalera? ¿Vistéis mi disfraz handmade en Facebook? Y vosotros, de qué os disfrazastéis?

Cambiando de tema, hoy os traigo otra entrada en la sección de Entrevistas. Esta vez entrevistamos a Marta, un encanto de chica. Espero que os gusta la entrevista tanto o más que a mi.

Antes de nada, un inciso. Perdón por haber retrasado tanto la siguiente entrevista. Las que ya me habéis mandado vuestra entrevista, no penséis que me he olvidado de vosotras. ¡Antes o después aparecerá! :)

- Cuéntanos un poquito más de ti...

Hola Marta, yo también me llamo Marta y soy la autora del blog Canela y Naranja, un espacio centrado en la decoración DIY de casas reales, con problemas cotidianos y soluciones para todos los bolsillos, en el que también se hace referencia a artistas, viajes, cocina, lecturas y todas esas pequeñas cosas del día a día que me hacen feliz.

Aunque disfruto creando cosas con las manos, restaurando y construyendo, tal como muestro en mi espacio, en realidad soy licenciada en lingüística y trabajo como profesora.

Sin embargo, desde pequeña me ha atraído irremediablemente el arte, por lo que he hecho un poco de todo: estuve en clases de pintura y danza, estudié música… En cuanto a la decoración, no hace tanto que acabé cayendo en la cuenta de cuánto me atraía, aunque viéndolo con perspectiva siempre me ha encantado reorganizar  y redecorar espacios: en la universidad, cada vez que me mudaba a un piso nuevo me chiflaba hacer “tuneos” antes de instalarme y soy de las que cada vez que entran en una casa se dedica a redistribuirla para mejorar el espacio y la luz de manera prácticamente intuitiva.

- ¿Cómo y cuándo te surgió la idea de abrir un blog?

Tal como he comentado alguna vez, vivo en una casa con más de 300 años que estaba bastante destrozada cuando me mudé. Fue entonces cuando tuve que poner en práctica toda la creatividad que pude para intentar adecentarla con presupuesto “low cost” e intentando devolverle la esencia que las reformas mal hechas de los antiguos propietarios le habían restado: así aprendí a quitar un techo de escayola para volver a descubrir las vigas de madera, sanear una pared, etc.

El baño fue un gran obstáculo: es pequeño, muy pequeño, tanto que no sabía por dónde empezar. En realidad él es el gran responsable de que metiera la cabecilla en los blogs y revistas de decoración, siempre buscando alguna orientación útil para sacarle el máximo partido… Pero no encontré nada. Sólo baños preciosos y perfectos de casas preciosas y perfectas. Por eso tuve que ingeniármelas sin ninguna referencia para idear una reforma coherente con las características de la propiedad con la que maximizar el espacio. Y pensé, ¿seré yo la única que tiene este tipo de problemas en casa? La respuesta era obvia: seguro que no. Porque las casas reales no son como las de las revistas, y por lo tanto, tienen limitaciones. Canela y Naranja surgió, por lo tanto, para dar cabida a estos problemas tan comunes, con el objetivo de intentar ayudar e inspirar a todos aquellos que se encuentren en situaciones similares.

Con este mismo objetivo hace poco inicié una nueva sección cuya finalidad es ofrecer la posibilidad de decorar completamente una casa con la filosofía DIY: se trata de una enciclopedia en la que estoy recopilando todos aquellos tutoriales de blogs españoles que no te puedes perder, el ABC de la deco DIY. En él puedes aprender, por ejemplo, cómo construirte una lámpara con cartón, una isleta de cocina con un mueble deteriorado, un zapatero con rollos de papel o un espejo con una llanta de coche desgastada.

- ¿Cómo fueron tus comienzos?

Puff, diría que desastrosos. No tenía ni idea de dónde me estaba metiendo, ni mucho menos de cómo publicar un post, darle forma al blog o editar una foto. De hecho no puedo evitar sonrojarme un poco cuando releo mis entradas iniciales, supongo que nos pasará a todos.

- ¿Qué es lo que más te ha aportado el hecho de tener un blog?

Probablemente suene a cliché, pero realmente lo mejor de tener un blog es conectar con personas que tienen tus mismos intereses. Esa es la magia de internet, supongo, que nos permite descubrir otras formas de interacción social y, por ende, enriquecernos con aquellos que, en otras circunstancias, jamás habríamos tenido la suerte de conocer.

- ¿Y la parte más negativa?

¡Que te absorbe! Quiero decir que si tu mayor afición es bailar samba, piensas en ello sólo durante la hora que estés practicándola cada día, pero si tienes un blog corres el riesgo de no desconectar nunca: que vas a ver una exposición y te encanta el autor, ya estás tomando nota para escribir una entrada; que tus amigos se mudan a un ático monísimo, el primer día que los visitas acabas rogándoles que te dejen hacer un reportaje; te inventas un plato nuevo y el resultado está rico, pues antes de comer hay que hacer algunas fotos para compartir la receta… Y luego está la interacción con los lectores y las redes sociales, porque no basta con escribir el post y punto, luego tienes que compartirlo, responder a comentarios, etc. Y lo curioso es que ninguna de estas cosas cansa, porque resulta tan gratificante y divertido…

- ¿Qué consejo le darías a las personas que quieran abrir un blog?

¡Muchísimos! Lo primero, que elijan bien el nombre, porque luego esto te condiciona bastante. Que lean, busquen e investiguen, porque lo ideal es aprender de los demás, así puedes ahorrarte cometer muchos errores. Y, lo más importante, que no pierdan el norte y siempre conserven su esencia. Puede parecer un consejo-comodín que no dice nada, pero realmente me parece básico.

Tienen que pensar que si a alguien le interesa la decoración, tiene dos opciones: ir al quiosco a comprar un ejemplar de AD o leer deco-blogs en los que sus autores muestren su visión personal sobre el interiorismo y el diseño.  A mí me encanta AD, por supuesto, pero también me chifla leer blogs como Etxekodeco o Petite Candela, porque muestran una perspectiva  particular refrescante y enriquecedora, porque aportan ideas y porque me permiten ver (y conocer) a las personas que se esconden tras el teclado, y eso es así porque no han dejado de ser ellos mismos. Pongo como ejemplo webs de decoración, pero esto puede aplicarse a las de cualquier temática.

De hecho, uno de los comentarios más gratificantes que me han hecho respecto a Canela y Naranja tenía que ver con esta idea. Fue en una entrada en la que explicaba el viaje tan desastroso que hice a Madrid para visitar Casa Decor, una de estas escapadas en las que todo sale mal. Decía que, si ya el viaje había sido un desastre, encima cuando volví a casa y me puse a preparar la entrada sobre el evento me di cuenta de que había cien mil entradas ya publicadas en otros blogs sobre el mismo evento. Y una lectora me escribió algo así como “sí, pero nosotros lo que queremos leer es lo que te pareció a ti”. Lo recuerdo con mucho cariño, porque este tipo de comentarios son la gasolina que sirve como carburante para seguir escribiendo y porque me hizo pensar que, realmente, lo que le da sentido a tu espacio, es que refleje quién eres.

Here's another Blogger Interview. This time we interviewed Marta, I hope you like it as much as me.

But before starting, I have to say that I hadn't forgotten about the interviews. I will post all of your interviews on the blog soon, so don't worry! 

- Tell us a little bit more about yourself...

Hi Marta, my name is also Marta and I'm the author of the Canela y Naranja blog where I write about DIY decoration for real houses, with ordinary problems and cheap solutions to them. I also write about artists, travelling, cooking, reading and all the things that make me happy.

I enjoy creating handmade stuff, restoring furniture and building it as well, although I have a degree in Linguistics and I work as a teacher.

However, since I was very little I've been interested in art, so I've done a bit of everything: I went to painting classes, dancing classes, I studied music.... As far as decoration goes, I realised not long ago how much I liked reorganising and redecorating places. When I was at uni, every time I moved house I loved customising the flat trying to redistribute everything.

- How and when did the idea of starting a blog come to you?

As I've already said on my blog, I live in a 300-year old house, which was partially destroyed when I moved in. That's when I had to use all my creativity to try to make it look decent with a low cost budget, trying to find a solution for all the bad renovations that the old owners had done. And I learnt how to take the plaster off the ceiling, fixing walls... and so on.

The worst bit was the toilet: it was tiny, really, really tiny, and I didn't know where to start. That is the main reason why I started looking on deco blogs and magazines, trying to look for any suitable ideas. But I didn't find anything. All the toilets that I found were beautiful and perfect. So I had to manage without any ideas. And then I thought, am I the only one that has these types of problems? The answer was clear, surely not. And the main point is that real houses don't look like the ones in magazines. Canenla y Naranja was created then with the objective of trying to help and inspire all those who had similar problems to mine.

I also started a new section on the blog with the same objective, which is to offer the possiblity of DIY decorating a whole house. It's an encyclopedia where I've put tutorials from different blogs. In this ABC of DIY deco you can learn, for instance, how to make a lamp out of cardboard, or a kitchen table with an old piece of furniture, or a shoe storer with paper rolls, or a mirror with an old tyre.

- How did you find it at the start?

Well... I would say it was a complete disaster. I had no idea what all this was about. I didn't know how to post, how to design the blog, or how to edit a photo. I'm a little bit ashamed when I look at my old posts, but I guess it happens to all of us.

- What do you like the most about having a blog?
  
It probably is a cliche, but I reckon the best thing about having a blog is to get in touch with people that share your interests. That's the best thing about the Internet, I guess, that it allows us to disover differrent ways of communicating with society, and also to meet people that we wouldn't have done otherwise.

- And what are the bad things about having a blog?

That it takes all of your time! I mean, if your hobby is to go dancing samba, you only think about it when you're actually doing it, but if you have a blog you're in danger of not disconnecting ever. Sometimes you go to an art exhibition and you see something that you love and you're taking notes to write a post about it; or your friends move to a beautiful top floor flat and the first day you visit it you beg for permission to write something about it; or you try a new recipe but before eating it you need to take some pictures of it to post it later... And you can't forget about social networks. Not only do you have to write and post it, but also you have to share it, answer to comments, etc. And the funny thing is, that you never get tired of it, because its satisfying and fun.

- What piece of advice would you give to the readers that want to start a blog? 
 

Loads! First, I would tell them to chose the right name, as it's something that's essential. I would also tell them to read, search, investigate... and learn from the others. And the most important thing, always be yourself. It's one of the most basic things.
You have to realise that if someone is interested in decoration, she/he has two options: going to the newspaper stand to buy AD magazine or read deco-blogs where we can read about the personal opinion about interiorism and design of the author. I love AD, but I also love reading blogs such as Etxekodeco or Petite Candela, because they show some new and fresh ideas, and because they allow me to know more about the people behind the blogs. I am mentioning blogs related to deco, but this can be applied to any other themes.
In fact, one of the comments about Canela and Naranja that I've liked the most was related to all of this. I posted something about how awful my trip to Madrid to visit Casa Decor was. I said that the trip itself had been a disaster, plus when I came back home and started writing about it I saw thousands of blogs that had already posted about the same event. And a reader said to me: "that's true, but we want to read what you personally thought about it" This type of comment motivates you to keep doing what you've being doing, and it made me think that the main point of having a blog is to be yourself.
