¿Que tal la semana? Yo, como siempre, liada. Aún así, tengo que sacar algo de tiempo para el blog, que cada día me tiene más enganchada!

Como os comenté en mi anterior entrada, el fin de semana pasado fui a hacer un curso de patchwork, que tan de moda está recientemente. Pero para aquellos que no estéis metidos en el mundo de la costura, ¿qué es el patchwork? Básicamente es unir retales de diferentes diseños y tamaños para crear desde una colcha hasta un cojín, manteles, objetos de decoración o ropa. Los resultados son preciosos, sin embargo requiere mucho tiempo, dedicación, paciencia, y ganas de hacerlo!

Hay diferentes técnicas para ir uniendo las telas. En el curso nos enseñaron "patchwork geométrico". Y a partir de un patrón, hicimos este acerico tan precioso! ¿Qué os parece? 

Yo no sé si prefiero este acerico o el que os enseñé ya hace tiempo... De cualquier forma, si os gusta la costura y os apetece aprender patchwork, os recomiendo que hagáis algún curso, taller o miréis tutoriales en Internet. Yo quedé muy contenta con lo que aprendí y seguro que de aquí a unos días tengo alguna creación más que enseñaros!

Y esta entrada no la puedo terminar sin recomendaros que veáis el cortometraje "Cuerdas" de Pedro Solís García, ganador del premio Goya al mejor corto de animación. Lo acabo de ver y me ha emocionado muchísimo. No os cuento nada, tenéis que verlo!

Hi there!!

How's the week going? Mine... as always, very very busy. But still I have some time to work on my blog, my new addiction! 

As I told you in the last post, last weekend I went to a Patchwork workshop. For those of you who are not into sewing so much, what is patchwork? Basically, it's sewing bits of different sized and patterned fabric together. Doing this you can create quilts, cushions, table cloths, decorations and clothes. Although it requires a lot of time, dedication and patience, the results are beautiful!

There are different patchwork techniques. In the workshop that I went to, we were taught geometric patcwhork. And with a pattern that they gave us, we made this beatiful pincushion! (You can see the pictures above!) What do you think of it?

I don't know if I prefer this one or the one that I showed you a few weeks ago. Anyway.... if you like sewing and you feel like learning patchwork I recomend joining a course, going to a workshop or learning on the Internet. I was pretty glad with what I learnt, and I'm sure that I will show you some more patchwork creations soon.

And I can't finish this post without mentioning the short film that I just saw, "Cuerdas", directed by Pedro Solís García and winner of the Best Animated Short Film at the Goya Film Awards. I won't tell you anything about it, you really really have to watch it!

Anillos y más anillos! - Rings and more rings

Bueno, como ya sabreís todos me encantan los complementos. Tengo millones de collares, pendientes, anillos... Sin embargo, desde que me inicié en el mundo de la Lengua de Signos he tenido que dejar mis accesorios de lado.. Ya que no se puede interpretar con ellos!! Así que aprovecho los fines de semana para cambiar cada dos horas de accesorio

Esta mañana mi querida amiga Carmen y yo hemos ido a un taller de Patchwork. Ya os enseñaré lo que hemos aprendido! Y he aprovechado para darle a Carmen un anillo que le había hecho con hilo de aluminio, también conocido como hilo mágico. Aquí está el resultado ¿Qué os parece? A ella le ha encantado! (O eso me ha dicho...)

Tengo muchísimos anillos parecidos a estos hechos a mano.. Lo mejor de todo, es que no hay dos iguales! Son muy rápidos y fáciles de hacer, simplemente es ir enrollando el aluminio o hilo mágico y usar vuestra imaginación para darle vuestro toque personal. La próxima vez que haga alguno haré fotos para que veáis como se hacen paso a paso. De momento os dejo algunas de las fotos para que vayáis cogiendo ideas.

Hiiii!! 

Well, as you all know, I love accesories. I have millions of necklaces, rings, earings... The problem is that since I started working as a Sign Language interpreter I've had to stop using them... As you can't sign with them on! So what I do is wear as many as possible at weekends.

This morning my dear friend Carmen and I went to a Patchwork workshop. I will definitely show you what we learnt! And I took the chance to give Carmen a ring that I made for her made of wire! Above you can see the result. What do you reckon? She loved it! (Or that's what she said at least...)

I've got loads of rings similar to that one that I made myself. And the best part of making your own rings is that they are all different! It's easy and fast to make them.. You only have to turn the wire around using your imagination to give it a personal touch. Next time I make one I'll take some pictures when making it to show you how. The pictures above show some of the ones that I made, you can get some ideas from them!

Amigo invisible - Secret Santa

¡¡Buenas gélidas tardes!! (Scroll down for English version)

Este finde me he venido al pueblo (Colmenar Viejo), ¡y está nevando! Y para colmo estamos sin calefacción... así que aquí estoy, sin despegarme del brasero.

Esta entrada es muy especial para mi. Os voy a hablar de una tradición que empezamos hace dos año unas ex-compañeras de trabajo, y que cada año lo hacemos con más ilusión. El amigo invisible artesanal. Cada navidad, como excusa para vernos y pasar un buen rato disfrutando de nuestra compañía, hacemos un amigo invisible. Pero en lugar de comprar algo, ¡lo hacemos a mano! Es la única condición. Así que.. ¡a echarle imaginación!

Este año, como siempre, ha habido regalos preciosos. Regalos con personalidad, creatividad e ilusión. Futuros proyectos, ¡quién sabe! Aquí podéis vernos con nuestros regalos.

¿Podéis adivinar qué hice yo? Me tocó regalar a Gloria, especialista en hacer unos muffins que te mueres. ¿Y qué mejor que un complemento para su cocina? Con este precioso delantal y gorro de chef le van a salir unas magdalenas increíbles! Ahí van las fotos. Gracias Glo por mandármelas :)

Good freezing evening!!

I'm in my town this weekend... (Colmenar Viejo) and it's snowing!! And our heating just broke yesterday!! What are the chances? 

Anyway... this is a very special post for me. I'm going to tell you about a tradition that some friends and I started two years ago - our secret Santa. Every Crhistmas, secret Santa gives us an excuse to see each other and have a good time enjoying each other's company.  But the thing is that instead of buying presents we make them ourselves! That's the only rule. So... let's put our imagination to work!

As is the case every year, we've made really beautiful presents. Presents full of personality, creativity, and excitement. Future projects maybe.. who knows! You can see us with our presents in the picture above or  by clicking here.

Can you guess what I made? Well, I had to make something for Gloria, who cooks the best muffins ever!! So then, what about making some accesories for her kitchen?  She's going to make even better muffins (if  that's possible) with this apron and chef's hat on!! You can see all the pictures above.
