Anillos molones - Cool rings

Hola a todos!! (Scroll down for English version!)

¿Qué tal habéis empezado la semana? Yo sin parar, como siempre. Y además este sábado es carnavales en Colmenar y estoy preparando los disfraces!! Así que cualquier ratito que tengo libre... toca sacar la máquina! Ya os enseñaré los resultados!

Así que con tanto jaleo no tengo mucho tiempo para el blog.. Pero tengo cosas pendientes que enseñaros, así que a ello voy! Os traigo otra ración de anillos molones de todos los colores para todas las ocasiones. (Me he levantado de la siesta hace un rato y estoy con la tontería en todo lo alto...). A ver como traduzco esto en inglés ahora... En fin, aquí tenéis las fotos!! ¿Os gustan? Un montón de ellos ya están vendidos!! :)

Acordaos también que hace poco puse otra entrada con más anillos, echadle un ojo si os han gustado.

Hi everyone!!

How is the week going? I'm super busy, as always. And... next Saturday we're going to a carnival festival in my town (Colmenar), so I'm preparaing the costumes... Every free moment I have, I take my machine out and start sewing! I'll show you the results when the costumes are ready!

So as thigns have been a bit hectic, I don't have much time for my blog. But I still have some pending things to show you. So here you go! Rings that are cool always rule! (After the siesta I always think about stupid things... sorry!) So, take a look at the pictures above, what do you think? Are they cool enough to rule? I've already sold some of them!! :)

DIY cesta de trapillo - Trapillo basket tutorial

¿Qué tal va el finde? Bueno, esta vez escribo una entrada para enseñaros las cestas de trapillo que he hecho. Os recomiendo que compréis un ovillo de trapillo y os pongáis a ello. El trapillo lo podéis encontrar en tiendas de manualidades (como por ejemplo Pontejos o Almacenes Cobian en Madrid) y también en las tiendas de chinos. Si no queréis gastaros mucho para empezar os recomiendo que vayáis a los chinos, tienen mcuhísimos colores y a mi me costó 1.80. Una ganga. Son de peor calidad y a veces viene un nudito entre las tiras del ovillo (se puede quitar y coser los dos trozos de tela para que no se vea el nudo)... Pero para empezar está bien. Y también tendréis que comprar una aguja de ganchillo del número 10 o 12.

Me gustaría poder dejaros algún tutorial, pero sin cámara de vídeo creo que es imposible. (Aprovecho para decir que mi cumple es en dos meses!!) Con fotos lo veo muy complicado explicarlo.. No obstante lo intentaré más adelante a ver que sale. 

Lo que si puedo hacer es dejaros los links de los vídeos que yo he visto para hacerlas. Aquí los tenéis!!

De verdad, es muy fácil, todo es ponerse. Al principio tuve que repetir los vídeos un montón de veces hasta que lo pillé, pero una vez que sabéis hacer los diferentes tipos de puntos es facilísimo. Yo he empezado de cero y la verdad que estoy muy orgullosa de los resultados!!

How are things? I'm writting a post this time to show you the two baskets that I've made with trapillo. I recommend that you buy a trapillo ball so that you can start with it asap. Where to buy it? You can find it in arts and crafts shops (such as Pontejos or Almacenes Cobian in Madrid) or also in the Chinise shops. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, you can start with the one from the Chinise shops. They have it in lots of different colours and it's very cheap, I bought it for only 1.80 euros! Although the quality is not as good as the ones that you find in the arts and crafts shops, and also sometimes you find some knots between two pieces of trapillo in the middle of the ball (you can cut it and sew it to link it). And also you need to buy a crochet neddle size 10 or 12 (mm). 

I'd love to put up a tutorial, but without a video camera it's impossible. (Btw, my birthday is in two months...) I think that explaining it with pictures is very difficult, though I will maybe try someday and see what happens.

It's very very easy to learn, you just have to start with it and you will see. At the beginning I had to see the videos lots of times until I got it, but once you know how to make the different types of stitches it's very easy. I've started from scratch and I'm very proud of the results!

Patchworkreando!

¿Que tal la semana? Yo, como siempre, liada. Aún así, tengo que sacar algo de tiempo para el blog, que cada día me tiene más enganchada!

Como os comenté en mi anterior entrada, el fin de semana pasado fui a hacer un curso de patchwork, que tan de moda está recientemente. Pero para aquellos que no estéis metidos en el mundo de la costura, ¿qué es el patchwork? Básicamente es unir retales de diferentes diseños y tamaños para crear desde una colcha hasta un cojín, manteles, objetos de decoración o ropa. Los resultados son preciosos, sin embargo requiere mucho tiempo, dedicación, paciencia, y ganas de hacerlo!

Hay diferentes técnicas para ir uniendo las telas. En el curso nos enseñaron "patchwork geométrico". Y a partir de un patrón, hicimos este acerico tan precioso! ¿Qué os parece? 

Yo no sé si prefiero este acerico o el que os enseñé ya hace tiempo... De cualquier forma, si os gusta la costura y os apetece aprender patchwork, os recomiendo que hagáis algún curso, taller o miréis tutoriales en Internet. Yo quedé muy contenta con lo que aprendí y seguro que de aquí a unos días tengo alguna creación más que enseñaros!

Y esta entrada no la puedo terminar sin recomendaros que veáis el cortometraje "Cuerdas" de Pedro Solís García, ganador del premio Goya al mejor corto de animación. Lo acabo de ver y me ha emocionado muchísimo. No os cuento nada, tenéis que verlo!

ENGLISH VERSION!!

Hi there!!

How's the week going? Mine... as always, very very busy. But still I have some time to work on my blog, my new addiction! 

As I told you in the last post, last weekend I went to a Patchwork workshop. For those of you who are not into sewing so much, what is patchwork? Basically, it's sewing bits of different sized and patterned fabric together. Doing this you can create quilts, cushions, table cloths, decorations and clothes. Although it requires a lot of time, dedication and patience, the results are beautiful!

There are different patchwork techniques. In the workshop that I went to, we were taught geometric patcwhork. And with a pattern that they gave us, we made this beatiful pincushion! (You can see the pictures above!) What do you think of it?

I don't know if I prefer this one or the one that I showed you a few weeks ago. Anyway.... if you like sewing and you feel like learning patchwork I recomend joining a course, going to a workshop or learning on the Internet. I was pretty glad with what I learnt, and I'm sure that I will show you some more patchwork creations soon.

And I can't finish this post without mentioning the short film that I just saw, "Cuerdas", directed by Pedro Solís García and winner of the Best Animated Short Film at the Goya Film Awards. I won't tell you anything about it, you really really have to watch it!

Anillos y más anillos! - Rings and more rings

Bueno, como ya sabreís todos me encantan los complementos. Tengo millones de collares, pendientes, anillos... Sin embargo, desde que me inicié en el mundo de la Lengua de Signos he tenido que dejar mis accesorios de lado.. Ya que no se puede interpretar con ellos!! Así que aprovecho los fines de semana para cambiar cada dos horas de accesorio

Esta mañana mi querida amiga Carmen y yo hemos ido a un taller de Patchwork. Ya os enseñaré lo que hemos aprendido! Y he aprovechado para darle a Carmen un anillo que le había hecho con hilo de aluminio, también conocido como hilo mágico. Aquí está el resultado ¿Qué os parece? A ella le ha encantado! (O eso me ha dicho...)

Tengo muchísimos anillos parecidos a estos hechos a mano.. Lo mejor de todo, es que no hay dos iguales! Son muy rápidos y fáciles de hacer, simplemente es ir enrollando el aluminio o hilo mágico y usar vuestra imaginación para darle vuestro toque personal. La próxima vez que haga alguno haré fotos para que veáis como se hacen paso a paso. De momento os dejo algunas de las fotos para que vayáis cogiendo ideas.

Hiiii!! 

Well, as you all know, I love accesories. I have millions of necklaces, rings, earings... The problem is that since I started working as a Sign Language interpreter I've had to stop using them... As you can't sign with them on! So what I do is wear as many as possible at weekends.

This morning my dear friend Carmen and I went to a Patchwork workshop. I will definitely show you what we learnt! And I took the chance to give Carmen a ring that I made for her made of wire! Above you can see the result. What do you reckon? She loved it! (Or that's what she said at least...)

I've got loads of rings similar to that one that I made myself. And the best part of making your own rings is that they are all different! It's easy and fast to make them.. You only have to turn the wire around using your imagination to give it a personal touch. Next time I make one I'll take some pictures when making it to show you how. The pictures above show some of the ones that I made, you can get some ideas from them!

Trapillo!

Hola de nuevo!! (Scroll down for English version)

Bueno, lo primero de todo, ¿qué es eso del "trapillo"?

Pues ya sabéis, con esto de la crisis, nos vemos obligados a reutilizar al máximo todo lo que tenemos por casa... de ahí surgió esta moda. El trapillo es una especie de ovillo gigante hecho con camisetas de algodón. Simplemente hay que cortar la camiseta en tiras, y ¡listo! También lo venden en tiendas de manualidades, pero ya sabéis, si estáis a punto de tirar camisetas viejas de algodón, ni se os ocurra hacerlo!! Probad con ello, es divertido, fácil, y con unos resultados asombrosos.

Yo empecé a leer cosas de trapillo, ver diseños.. y me picó la curiosidad. El otro día encontré ovillos de trapillo en una tienda, y me decidí a comprar uno para probar que tal se me daba. Y aviso que engancha! Tengo un montón de proyectos en mente, de momento he probado con cosas facilísimas, que podemos hacer con nuestras propias manos y un poco de trapillo. Pero hay gente que hace preciosidades tejiendo trapillo... Cómo me gustaría aprender.. ¿por qué los días no tendrán 48 horas?

Bueno pues aquí os dejo unas fotos de mis tres primeros collares de trapillo. Son muy muy básicos, prometo hacer más cosas más complicadillas, cuando saque algo de tiempo. Espero que os guste!

Os pongo también algunas fotos que he encontrado en Pinterest para que veáis que de cosas se pueden hacer.. me chifla todo!!

Hi again!!

Well, first of all... what does "trapillo" mean? (Couldn't find the word in English... it could be t-shirt yarn or t-shirt crochet... not sure though so if anyone knows please let me know!)

The economic crisis has made people think about how to recycle everything. Even t-shirts!! So that's how the "trapillo" became fashionable! To give you an idea of what it's like, it's like a giant yarn made out of cotton t-shirt. So if you want to get some, you only have to take an old t-shirt and cut it into strips. You can find it as well in arts and crafts shops. If you're thinking about throwing out some of your old clothes.. don't!! Try making sosmething with it. It's fun, easy and the results are amazing.

I started reading about this new fashion, seeing some designs... and started to get curious about it. Some days ago I found some trapillo balls in a shop, and decided to buy some to strart trying. And I'd better warn you... it's addictive!! 

I have lots of projects in mind. So far I've tried with easy things that you can make with your own fingers and a bit of trapillo! But there are people who make really beautifull things by knitting it - I would love to learn. Why can't days last 48 hours?

So, here are some pictures (all pics above) of three necklaces that I made. They are easy peasy ones, but I promise to make some more complicated ones someday. Hope you like it!!
