Boda Handmade! - Handmade wedding!

¿Qué tal estáis? ¿De vacaciones ya?

Aquellos que respondáis si... que sepáis que me muero de envidia!

¿Qué os traigo hoy? Bueno, resulta que la semana pasada fui a una boda de una amiga. La boda estuvo genial: emotiva, con muchos detalles, comimos de lujo, bailamos hasta las tantas sin parar... Y la novia iba espectacular. Pero, como ya sabéis, las bodas son carísimas, y para colmo este verano tengo dos. Así que para esta boda decidí hacerme yo misma el vestido y los complementos!

¿Qué os parece?

El vestido le hice gracias al curso de costura de Oh Mother Mine DIY. En sus clases decidimos que cada alumna nos haríamos un vestido como último proyecto. Buscamos patrones en revistas, los modificamos a nuestros gustos y... voilà! Yo tenía claro que quería un vestido de encaje, ajustado al cuerpo y con corte en la cintura y falda fruncida. Compré las telas en color coral, una de encaje y otra para el forro. Cogimos un patrón similar y le modificamos la parte de los hombros. He de reconocer que me costó confeccionarlo, era la primera vez que me hacía un vestido y tuve que echarle bastantes horas y mucha paciencia. Y aquí tengo que agradecer a Marta por su ayuda en las clases y a mi chico por su paciencia subiendo y bajándome la cremallera un millón de veces, cogiéndome alfileres donde yo no llegaba... etc.

Pero la verdad que el resultado fue inmejorable. Las que sois costureras, sobre todo las principiantes como yo, seguro que habéis tenido la misma sensación que yo cuando te confeccionas alguna prenda de vestir y el día que la estrenas te dicen... ¡qué bonito! Y aquí llega el momento en que te llenas de orgullo y dices... ¡lo he hecho yo! 

Y es que las ventajas de hacernos nosotras mismas la ropa son infinitas: nos la hacemos a nuestro gusto, nadie va a tener un vestido/camisa/falda igual, nos sale muy económico, nos lo adaptamos perfectamente a nuestro cuerpo... y encima, por lo menos para mi, coser es un hobby!

Bueno por últimos os dejo unas fotos más para que veáis los detalles del vestido y las telas. Y también los accesorios, que también son 100% handmade! Flor para el pelo a juego con el vestido, anillo y pendientes.

Y os dejo también con una foto para que me veáis con el conjunto puesto. No sé si os llamará más la atención mi atuendo o el de mi novio... Por si alguno os lo preguntáis... sí, es escocés de pura cepa, y no, no llevaba calzoncillos!

What do I have for today's post? Well, it turns out that last week I went to a friend's wedding. The wedding was fantastic: very emotional, with lots of little details, delicious food, dancing non-stop until the early hours.... and the bride looked spectacular. But, as you know, weddings are very expensive, and this summer I've been invited to two. So I decided to sew my own dress and make the accesories.

What do you think of it?

I made the dress thanks to the sewing course of Oh Mother Mine DIY that I went to. Each student had to choose a dress and sew it. We looked for the patterns in different magazines, we modified the patterns to get what we wanted to and... voilà! I knew that I wanted to have a lace dress, tight from the neck down to the waist and with a shirred skirt. I bought a piece of lace and a piece of lining in coral. I picked a similar pattern to what I had in mind and with the help of the teacher we modified the pattern a little bit. I have to say that it wasn't that easy to make the dress, especially as it was my first time! I have to thank Marta (the teacher) for all the help and also my boyfriend for his patience zipping up and down my dress hundreds of times and placing pins where I couldn't reach.

But the truth is that the result couldn't have been better. Those of you who are sewing fans surely have had that feeling of wearing a dress or shirt that you've made and someone saying to you... that's nice! And then comes the moment when you feel super proud of youself and say... I made it myself! 

The thing is that there are lots of advantages if we make our own clothes: we make the things that we like, nobody is going to be wearing the same as us, it's cheaper, and, at least for me, sewing is a hobby!

Well, you can see above some other pictures with the dress and the fabrics that I used. And also pictures of the accesories, that are also 100% handmade - a hair flower to go with the dress, a ring and earrings. And you can also see a picture of me and my boyfriend at the weeding, so that you can see how the dress looked when I wore it.

Probably my boyfriend's outfit is more striking than mine.... In case you were wondering, yes, he's Scottish, and no, he's not wearing boxers!

Valisette - Toilet bag

¿Qué tal? Hace bastante que no publico, lo sé... Sorry!! Me fui unos días de viaje y estoy con algún encargo y además me estuve haciendo un vestido para una boda... y veía que llegaba la boda y estoy sin vestido! Pero llegó! Y quedó super chulo. Ya os enseñaré las fotos del vestido en otro post. Y también me ha salido trabajo nuevo.. en el Museo del Prado. Así que por eso no he podido publicar... a ver si esta semana que viene que ya estaré más libre me organizo y preparo algunos tutoriales.

Aún así, hoy os traigo un tutorial nuevo! ¿Os acordáis que hace poco os enseñé a hacer un neceser con cremallera? Si queréis recordarlo lo tenéis AQUÍ. Hoy os traigo algo parecido... ¿qué os parece esta valisette con cremallera de puntilla? 

La hice ya hace algunas semanas, y le he dado mucho uso. Para guardar cualquier cosita para llevar en el bolso, cosas que tienes en casa sueltas y luego nunca encuentras, maquillaje...

Vamos con el DIY!

Materiales:

• Dos trozos de tela interior, dos de tela exterior, y dos de guata o entretela, de 16 x 22 cm cada uno.
• Medio metro de bies.
• Una cremallera con puntilla de 20cm.
• Materiales de costura: hilo, tijeras, marcadores, alfileres...

DIY:

Paso 1: Hacemos una especie de sandwich con las telas. primero la tela exterior con el lado bueno hacia fuera, después la guata o entretela, y por último la tela interior o forro. Como veréis en la foto, el borde de uno de los laterales de las telas interior y exterior van dobladas hacia dentro, aproximadamente 1cm, escondiendo la guata. Fijamos con alfileres esta parte. Aquí si queréis podéis pasarle una costura para tenerlo ya más afianzado, antes de poner la cremallera.

Paso 2: Colocamos la cremallera. Como es exterior, para que se vea la puntilla, se coloca directamente sobre la tela exterior. Sujetamos bien todo con alfileres y cosemos la cremallera.

Paso 3: Repetimos el paso 1 y 2 con las otras tres piezas de tela, cosemos la cremallera, y le pasamos una puntada en zigzag alrededor de todo el rectángulo que tenemos, para evitar que se deshilachen las telas.

Paso 4: Doblamos por la cremallera, con las caras exteriores enfrentadas. Recordad dejar la cremallera abierta hasta la mitad más o menos para luego poder darle la vuelta. Cosemos el borde opuesto a la cremallera. Y le ponemos el bies.

Paso 5: Ahora doblamos como veis en la foto, dejando la cremallera en el medio. Y cosemos los laterales pasando por encima de la cremallera. También les ponemos un bies.

Paso 6: Para darle volumen al neceser tenemos que cortarle las esquinas, pero antes tenemos que ahuecar la valisette. Lo hacemos como se ve en la foto. Marcamos con alfileres las cuatro esquinas a dos centímetros más o menos, si la queréis más alta tenéis que dejar más centímetros. cosemos las cuatro esquinas y cortamos el sobrante.

Le damos la vuelta y ya tenemos nuestra valisette terminada.

How's everything? First of all.... sorry for not posting a lot lately... I went away for a few days, and I've been sewing a couple of things that people asked me for. Also I went to a wedding yesterday and I' sewed the dress I wore... I managed to finish it on time! And the result was great! I'll post the pictures soon! And I got a new job at the Prado Museum too! So well, that's why I haven't been able to publish anything... I'll try to find more time for new tutorials!

Anyway, there's a new DIY today! Do you remember that a few weeks ago I posted a purse tutorial? If you want to have a look at it again, click HERE. So today we have something similar... what do you think of this toilet bag with lace edge zip?

I made it a couple of months ago and I've used it a lot. Mine is very small, and I use it for little things that I have in my bag, like make up, clips, etc.

Let's start with the DIY then!

Materials:

• Two 16 x 22 cm pieces of inside fabric, two of outside fabric, and two of wadding.
• 1/2 m of bias tape.
• A 20 cm lace edge zip.
• Sewing materials: thread, scissors, tailor's chalks, pins...

DIY:

Step 1:  We have to sandwich the wadding with the exterior and the interior fabric. First we place the exterior piece of fabric facing up, then the wadding, and lastly the interior fabric. As you can see in this picture (HERE), we have to fold 1 cm of one of the long sides of each piece of fabric (interior and exterior) to hide the wadding. We put pins to keep it in place. And we can sew this side before sewing the zip so that it doesn't move.

Step 2: Now we have to sew the zip. We pin it to the fabric and then we sew it. (Picture HERE)

Step 3: We have to repeat steps 1 and 2 with the other three pieces of fabric, sew the zip, and then we sew all the rectangle with a zigzag stitch. (Picture HERE)

Step 4: We fold the rectangle with the right sides facing each other, leaving the zip in the centre. Remember to leave the zip a bit open, so that we can turn it around later. And then we sew the edge opposite the zip, and we sew the bias tape to this edge. (Picture HERE)

Step 5: Now we fold the toilet bag as you see in this picture (HERE). And we sew the sides, also across the top of the zip. And again we have to sew the bias tape to these two sides. (Picture HERE)

Step 6: To give the bag extra volume, we have to cut the corners. First put your hands inside and give it the shape that you see in this picture (HERE). We put pins 2 cm from the corners. We sew these 4 corners... and that's it! Toilet bag finished. (Pictures HERE and HERE)
