DIY: Guarda-tijeras / Scissors case

Buenas tardes a todos!!

Ya es domingo... qué rápido se pasan los fines de semana, ¿verdad? En fin... ¡qué le vamos a hacer!

Bueno, esta vez os traigo un tutorial para que sigáis completando y personalizando vuestro costurero y os quede divino de la muerte! Si os acordáis, hace unos meses puse un tutorial para hacer un acerico y otro para hacer un guardagujas. Según he ido aficionandome a la costura he ido comprando más y más tijeras... Una para los hilos, una tijera buena para cortar telas, una tijera que corta en zigzag, otra para manualidades... vaya lío tengo de tijeras... es poner a buscar en el costurero y pincharme siempre! 

Así que... ¿que os parece si os enseño a hacer este guarda-tijeras tan original y bonito? El tutorial lo saqué de este otro blog, aunque modifiqué un poco las medidas. Está muy bien explicado, pero aún así he pensado en escribir yo el tutorial para poder hacerlo también en inglés como hago siempre.

Lo primero como siempre, los materiales:

- Dos rectángulo telas de 22 x 30 cm, y otro rectángulo de guata de las mismas medidas.

- Hilo, agujas y alfileres.

Vamos con el tutorial!

Primero colocamos las dos telas con los derechos enfrentados, y a continuación la guata. Es decir, abajo del todo tendremos la guata, después una de las telas (yo he puesto la morada) hacia arriba, y a continuación la otra tela hacia abajo. 

Afianzamos las telas con alfileres, dejando un hueco de unos 6 cm que no vamos a coser de momento. Después pasamos la máquina por todo el borde de las telas, dejando 1.5 cm de margen de costura. Acordaros de no pasar la máquina por los 6 cm que habíamos dejado sin alfileres. 

Ahora damos la vuelta a las telas por el hueco que habíamos dejado sin coser. Después tendremos que cerrar este hueco con puntada escondida. Y planchamos para asentar las costuras.

Tras esto, lo que vamos a hacer es doblar el rectángulo que tenemos de la forma que veis en la foto, para formar el primer compartimento. Y cosemos el borde con puntada escondida.

A continuación volvemos a doblar y coser con puntada escondida, y así tendríamos el segundo compartimento. Y repetimos este paso para tener el tercer compartimento.

Y...  terminado! Yo además lo he adornado un poco con un trozo de tela enrollado.

Good afternoon everyone!!

Sunday already.... why does the weekend always fly by?! Well... what can we do?

Anyway, here's a new tutorial. Do you remember that some months ago I wrote a pincushion tutorial and another tutorial for making a mini-booklet for our needles? The thing is, that since I started becoming a sewing addict, I have bought lots of scissors... One pair for cutting threads, another for fabric, pinking scissors as well, another pair of scissors for crafts... What a mess! Every time I try to get somthing from the sewing box I hurt myself with the scissors...

So this time I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful scissors case so that you can keep customising your sewing box! I found this tutorial on this other blog, but I modified its mesaures a bit. I'm going to write the tutorial again here, althoguh it's well explained on the other blog, but I prefer to write it and to do it in English as well.

First of all as always, the materials:

• Two rectangles of 22 x 30 cm of two types of fabric, and another rectangle of wadding of the same size.
• Thread, needles and pins.

So let's start with the tutorial:

First of all we put the two pieces of fabric facing each other, and then we place the wadding (picture here) So, we wiil have the wadding on the bottom, with one of the pieces of fabric on top of it facing up (I put the purple one first), and then the other piece of fabric on top of it facing down.

We put pins around the whole rectangle, leaving a hole of about 6 cm without pins, that we're not going to sew yet. After that we sew the edge leaving 1.5 cm of seam allowance. Remember not to sew those 6 cm that we left without pins (picture here).

Now we turn it right side up through the hole that we left without sewing and we close this hole by blind stitching. And now we have to iron it.

After that we have to fold the rectangle as you can see on this picture (click here), to make the first compartment. And we sew the edge by blind stitching.

Then we fold it again and sew by blind stitching to make the second compartment. And we have to repeat the same step again to make the third compartment (picture here)

And... finished! I also twisted a bit of fabric and sewed it to make it look nicer (click here).

Creaciones con Styl Patch- Styl Patch's creations

¿Qué tal estáis?

Yo... de miércoles! Que no está mal... Ya queda menos para el fin de semana, mañana entro a trabajar una hora y media más tarde (yujuuuuu) y esta noche voy a ver a mi querido Atleti!

¿Y qué os voy a contar hoy? Pues, como ya sabéis si habéis leído mis entradas anteriores, el fin de semana pasado fui al DIY Show y compré un montón de cositas... Entre ellas, un producto llamado "Styl Patch". Es un producto francés, que no se comercializa en España, únicamente en ferias de manualidades. Es una especie de aguacola sobre la que pones papel y se queda endurecido y con brillo. Se puede usar sobre cualquier tipo de material y con cualquier tipo de papel. Parece que ha sido pintado, pero simplemente hemos usado pegamento y papel, ¡Y da resultados tan buenos como estos!

¿Y como funciona? Bueno, pues para este vasito decorativo he usado los siguientes materiales:

• Un vasito de cristal (de yogurt).
• Papel estampado (Compré varios en el mismo stand donde comrpé el Styl Patch).
• Styl Patch y un pincel.
• Rafia e hilo de aluminio para decorar (opcional).

¡Empezamos con el tutorial!

El proceso es muy sencillo. Simplemente hay que dar una capa de Styl Patch al objeto que queramos decorar (que puede ser desde este vasito de cristal hasta una caja de cartón, un marco de fotos, una botella...). Y después pegamos el papel, puede ser uno o varios trozos de papel con diferentes estampados, como más nos guste. Después le damos otra capa de Styl Patch, y esperamos a que se seque. Yo lo he adornado con un poco de rafia y alumino dordado. El resultado es un bonito vaso decorativo al que, como podéis ver en estas fotos, le podemos dar multitud de usos.

Ya os enseñaré más cosas que vaya haciendo con este producto. De momento, he de decir que no me ha decepcionado la compra. ¡Espero que os haya gustado el tutorial!

How are you?

Me... the same as every Wednesday! Which means... not too bad as the weekend will arrive soon, tomorrow I start working an hour and a half later (woohoo), and tonight I will go to see my beloved Atletico de Madrid!

What have I prepared for today's post? Well, as you know (if you read my previous posts), last weekend I went to the DIY Show in Madrid, and bought lots of things... Among them, I got a product called "Styl Patch". It's a French product, and they don't sell it in Spain except in some craft fairs. It's a kind of fish glue that you put over any material that you want and then you put some paper on top of it so that it gets stuck to it and shines beautifully. It looks as if it's been painted, but it's only glue and paper! This picture (click here) shows you what I made with it!

And how does it work? Well, for this decorative glass that I made I used these materials (picture above):

A yoghurt jar.

Patterned paper (I bought some at the same stand where I bought the Styl Patch).

Styl Patch and a brush.

Raffia fibre and wire.

Let's start with the tutorial!

The way of making it is very simple. We only have to put some Styl Patch on the object that we want to decorate (it could be a yoghurt glass or a cardboard box, a photo frame or a bottle...). And then we have to put the paper over it, it could be one or more pieces with different patterns. Then we put some more Styl Patch and we wait unitl it dries. And then I put some raffia fibre and some wire to make it look nicer. The result is a very beautiful jar that we can use for many different things (pictures above).

I will show you more things that I will make using this technique. So far, I have to say that it didn't dissapoint me. Hope you liked the tutorial!

Mi primer DIY show! - My first DIY Show!

¿Qué tal habéis pasado el finde? Yo muy bien, entre otras cosas he ido al DIY Show, que supongo que la mayoría de los que me leéis sabéis qué es. 

Para los que no lo sepáis, es una feria dedicada a las manualidades y a los blogs. No tenía excusas para no ir! Había unos stands preciosos, me hubiese comprado todo! Pero los sueldos no dan para tanto.. Aún así he comprado un montón de cosas, había muchas ofertillas y productos que no conocía o difíciles de encontrar, así que al final "he cargado"... Mirad!!

También he ido a un par de talleres. Primero he ido al de Marta, de Oh Mother Mine DIY. Como ya sabéis, voy a sus clases de costura que imparte en Madrid, y como ella mismo ha dicho... nos sobornó para que fuéramos a ver su charla... ¡y ha merecido la pena! Especialmente para las que estamos iniciándonos en esto de los blogs y la costura. Ha contado cómo fueron sus inicios, en qué situación está ahora su blog, y cuál es su futuro. Su clave de éxito: trabajo, trabajo y más trabajo. Y sobre todo me ha gustado los ánimos que nos ha dado a todas las que estamos en nuestros inicios para seguir con el blog y hacerlo con mucha ilusión y esfuerzo, que es la única forma de conseguir las cosas en esta vida.

Después he ido a un taller impartido por Escuela de Bloggers, en el que hablaban de las diferentes redes sociales y cómo hacer un buen uso de ellas para sacarles el máximo partido. Una charla muy interesante en la que he aprendido muchos truquillos, que seguro que funcionarán.

Por hoy, no tengo mucho más que contaros... Os dejo algunas fotillos del DIY Show (están hechas con el móvil, así que la calidad no es demasiado buena). Yo sin duda repetiré en la próxima edición.

ENGLISH VERSION!

Hi everyone!!

How was your weekend? Mine was really good. Among other things, I went to the DIY Show in Madrid. I guess that some of you already know what it is. 

For those who don't, DIY Show is an arts and crafts fair, where they sell different products, and make lots of workshops about blogs and crafts. So I couldn't not go! I would've bought everything... but my salary doesn't allow it... Even so, I bought everything that you can see on this picture. There were lots of offers and products that are hard to find or that I didn't know.

I also went to a couple of workshops. The first one was given by Marta of Oh Mother Mine DIY. As you all know, I'm going to her sewing classes in Madrid so, as she said, she blackmailed us to go to her talk... and it was worth it! Especially for people that are starting a sewing-related blog. She told us about when she started, also about how her blog is doing at the moment, and what her future plans in relation to the blog are. Her key to success is: working, working and working again. And I enjoyed this workshop beacuse she has encouraged us to carry on working on our blogs with effort and enthusiasm, because it is the only way of getting things that you want in life.

After that I went to another workshop given by Escuela de Bloggers, in which they talked about how to use the different social networks to your advantage. It was a really interesting talk where I learnt some tricks that I'm sure will work!

I don't have much more to tell you about today... I've put some pictures of the DIY Show above (that were taken with my phone, so the quality is not as good). I'm sure I will go again the next it's on!

Ojalá... - Hopefully...

Bueno esta es una entrada un poco diferente, ya que por una vez tenéis que permitirme que no os enseñe ninguna de mis creaciones (tengo un montón preparadas para los próximos posts, que no cunda el pánico!).

Esta vez escribo para contaros cómo empezó mi blog, y lo agradecida que estoy a la buena acogida que ha tenido hasta ahora.

Después de las vacaciones de Navidad tuve un parón laboral. Trabajo en la universidad como Intérprete de Lengua de Signos, y era época de exámenes, por lo que me tocaba ir un par de horas muy de vez en cuando para cubrir algún examen y poco más. Y resulta que a mi eso de estar en casa sin hacer nada nunca se me ha dado bien. La gente que me conoce me pregunta muy a menudo, ¿pero de dónde sacas el tiempo para hacer todo lo que haces? La verdad que ni yo misma lo sé, pues a pesar de tener un carácter super tranquilo, necesito estar activa, haciendo cosas continuamente. Siempre he sido así, desde muy pequeñita recuerdo que mi madre me decía que era una "catacaldos", me apuntaba a todo lo que podía, y al curso siguiente cambiaba de actividad. No creo que haya persona en el mundo que haya hecho tantas extraescolarres como yo...

Enero se me estaba haciendo muy cuesta arriba. A los tres o cuatro días de estar en casa sin hacer "nada" ya no podía más, nada entre comillas, porque siempre hay cosas que hacer.... limpiar, cocinar, arreglar eso que has ido posponiendo, visitar familia, quedar con los amigos... Además nos habíamos mudado de casa a primeros de diciembre, con lo cual todavía tenía el piso patas arriba, no conocía el barrio, tenía que arreglar unas cosillas y comprar muchas cosas que faltaban... Aún así, seguía encontrándome con mucho tiempo libre, y eso me desesperaba.

De siempre me ha gustado hacer manualidades, tengo muchas cosas por casa que he hecho yo, he ido regalando muchas cosas, o incluso me he diseñado pendientes y anillos para bodas! Me chiflan todo tipo de accesorios, me gusta mucho la moda, los bolsos, los zapatos, pintarme las uñas... y ahora que trabajo de Intérprete de Lengua de Signos tengo que ir vestida de negro, sin ningún tipo de accesorio o complemento, y con las uñas sin pintar... menuda gracia! ¿Y que hago yo con todo lo que he hecho? No puedo abandonar mis manualidades así por que sí... me entretiene hacerlas y me encanta el resultado! ¿Y si las vendo? O... ¿y si hago un blog para enseñar lo que hago y como lo hago?

Tras mucho meditarlo, un día cogí y dije... voy a abrir un blog ahora mismo, no puedo más, necesito hacer algo! Empecé a leer y leer, y volver a releer cómo crear un blog y me dí de bruces con todo esto... 

Y un sinfín de palabras más que jamás había escuchado... madre mía, ¡en la que me he metido! ¡¡Pero si yo no tengo tiempo para todo esto!!

Con tiempo y ganas se puede, estoy descubriendo un mundo que jamás se me había pasado por la cabeza, y está siendo muy muy satisfactorio. Ver cómo aumentan tus visitas, ver como cada vez tienes más seguidores, proponerte nuevos retos y ver que gustan, leer comentarios de agradecimiento por los tutoriales... ¡Es tan satisfactorio! Si estáis pensando en abrir un blog, no lo dudéis. Las excusas tipo "no tengo tiempo" o "no tengo ni idea de como hacerlo", son sólo eso, excusas. 

Todo lo que empezó como un hobby, algo para entretenerme, está pasando a ser una obsesión, algo con lo que disfruto, de lo que aún me queda mucho por aprender, pero que me llena de orgullo y satisfacción (aquí hago un apunte, soy republicana pero esta frase me venía como anillo al dedo).

Así que este post os lo dedico a todos aquellos que me seguís y me leéis. Ojalá me sigáis dando tantas alegrías... Ojalá... bonita canción, os dejo un vídeo signado y no me enrollo más, que lo disfrutéis.

ENGLISH VERSION!

Hi everyone!!

This post is going to be a bit different. This time you are going to have to forgive me for not posting any of my creations (don't panic, I already have some posts prepared for next week!). This time I'm going to tell you about how this blog started and how thankful I feel for the nice welcome that I've recieved.

After Christmas I was out of work. I work at university as a Sign Language Interpreteur, and the exam period here in Spain is in January, so I only had to go to work a couple of hours every now and again. It turns out that I've never been very good at doing nothing. People that know me often ask me... where do you get the time to do so much stuff? To be honest, I don't even know myself. I'm a very calm and chilled out person, but I need to be active, doing different things all the time. I've always been a busy little bee. My mum used to tell me that when I was a kid, as I always wanted to take up new activities.

So last January was starting to be a hard month for me... I couldn't bear it after three or four days at home doing "nothing", I wrote nothing between inverted commas because I had to clean, cook, fix that thing that I kept postponing, visit family, meet friends... And also, we had just moved house in December, so the flat was quite a mess, I didn't know the neighbourhood, had to fix some things, buy lots of stuff that were missing... Even so, I still found myself with lots of free time, which was getting on my nerves.

I've always liked making all types of handmade stuff, I have many things that I made around the house, I've also given some of them to friends, and I even designed rings and earrings for some weddings that I've been to! I love all types of accessories, I also love fashion, and of course shoes, bags, painting my nails.... and now that I work as a Sign Language Interpreteur I have to wear black clothes, not wear any kinds of accessories, and can't have my nails painted... great right? So what do I do now with all the things that I've been making? And also.. I can't just give up my hobby just beacuse of my job... I love making and wearing them! What if I sell them? Or even better, what if I start a blog to show what I make and how I make it?

After thingking about it, one day I made a decision and all of a sudden said... I can't put up with it, I need to do something with my time! I'm going to start a blog right now! So I started reading and reading, and re-reading about how to create a blog... and then all this hit me:

And a whole lot more of words that I'd never heard before... OMG, what have I done? I don't have enough free time to go through all this!!

Bit by bit, and with a bit of effort and enthusiasm, I'm starting to discover a world that had never come to my mind before... and it's brilliant! Seeing how the visits are rising every day, seeing how followers are also increasing, facing new challenges, realising that people like the things you write about, getting new comments thanking you for the tutorials... it's so nice!! So, if any of you are thinking about starting a blog, don't hesitate!! Excuses such as "I have no time" or "I don't know anything about how to do it", are just that, excuses.

It all started as a hobby, something to keep my mind busy, and it's starting to become an obsession, something that I really enjoy doing, something that I still need to learn a lot about, but somthing that fulfills me.

So this post has been written for all of you, those who follow me and read my blog. Hopefully you will keep making me happy in the future... Hopefully... there's a song called "hopefully" in Spanish (Ojalá) that is really beautiful, so here's the link to a signed video of the song. Enjoy it.

Llavero de trapillo - Trapillo keyring

¿Qué tal el finde? Seguro que con este buen tiempo lo habréis disfrutado mucho! Yo no he parado por casa. Ayer fui al Retiro de picnic (la tarta de queso me salió riquísima) y hoy he ido a comer con unos amigos y luego al parque Fuente del Berro, que por si no lo conocéis, es una pasada. Os recomiendo que vayáis. Lo más curioso de este parque es que hay pavos reales sueltos! Yo me he encontrado uno de camino a casa que había salido a la calle a dar un paseo! Increíble.

Y bueno, ¿qué os voy a contar hoy? Hace tiempo vi por la red unos llaveros de trapillo en forma de flor muy mono, y como nos hemos mudado hace poco y aún no le había dado la copia de llaves a mi casa, decidí dársela con el kit completo. Así que me busqué el tutorial y lo hice.

La única pega es que como llavero queda un poco grande... Aunque a mi me vendría de maravilla porque siempre ando buscando las llaves durante horas delante del portal... Yo he pensado que voy a hacer más flores con el mismo patrón para darle diferentes usos: como colgante, como adorno para la casa, como broche para la solapa del abrigo, como adorno para algún bolso de tela... ¿se os ocurren más cosas?   Dadme ideas!

Hi!!

How was your weekend? I'm sure that with this nice weather (in Madrid at least) you've had a great one! I've been out most of the time. Yesterday I went to the Retiro park with some friends and we had a picnic there (the cheesecake I made was really tasty) and today I went to have lunch with some friends and then to "Fuente del Berro" park, which if you don't know, is really beautiful. I recommend going. It's funny that there are peacocks which are free to walk around in the park. I bumped into one on the way home that had gone out of the park for a walk... Unbelievable!

And well, what am I going to tell you today? Some time ago I saw on the Internet some trapillo flower-shaped keyrings that looked very nice, and as we moved house a couple of months ago and I still hadn't given my mum a copy of the keys I decided to give her a keyring with them as well. So I looked for a tutorial and made it.

Here's the link to the tutorial which,by the way, took me some time to find! It's very well explained I think.

And you can see all the pictures above!

The only bad thing is that as a keyring it's maybe a bit big... Although for me it's perfect as I always spend hours looking for my keys in my bag in front of the door of my house. I think that I'm going to make some more with the same pattern and give it different uses, such as: a necklace, a house ornament, a brooch for a coat, an ornament for a bag... can you think of any others? Give me some ideas!!

Tutorial clutch o neceser! DIY

¿Qué tal estáis? Yo muy contenta por la oportunidad que me ha dado Lireth de aparecer en su blog! Esta entrada estará en su blog, por el cual os recomiendo que paséis, ¡a mi me encanta!Así que espero no decepcionar a tus lectores con este post!

Esta vez vengo con nuevo tutorial. ¿Queréis aprender a hacer este precioso clutch/neceser? Pues continuad leyendo!!

Lo primero de todo son los materiales.

Necesitaremos:

• Dos telas diferentes.
• Entretela (si las telas son resistentes no hace falta, pero yo he puesto para darle más cuerpo).
• Un trocito de velcro.
• Hilo, jabón de sastre, tijeras, máquina de coser, alfileres y papel para el patrón.

El patrón yo lo he diseñado a ojo. He pegado tres folios y de ancho tiene más o menos lo que un folio apaisado. El semicírculo lo he dibujado con un plato grande que tenía en casa. Podéis darle el tamaño que prefiráis, yo os dejo aquí mi patrón que podéis usar.

Después he recortado el patrón y lo he dibujado en las tres telas y tras esto cosemos el velcro a la tela interior, a 4 cm aproximadamente del final del semicírculo.

Lo siguiente ha sido colocar las telas. Primero la entretela y después se ponen las otras dos telas (la interior y la exterior) con las caras hacia dentro. Ponemos alfileres para que no se nos mueva y pasamos la máquina a 1.5 cm por todo el contorno, dejando unos 4 cm sin coser para darle la vuelta.

Le damos la vuelta y cerramos el agujero que habíamos dejado con puntada escondida. Planchamos para que se asienten las costuras.

Ahora lo doblamos de esta manera, para darle la forma que nos guste, y pasamos una costura de nuevo con la máquina por todos los laterales (para cerrar el neceser) y por el semicírculo (de adorno).

Por último, cosemos el otro trozo de Velctro para el cierre. Yo además le he puesto un botón que tenía por casa y que le iba bien como adorno.

¿Qué os parece? A mí me encanta la verdad, y lo bueno es que se le puede dar mucho uso. ¡Además la tela es preciosa! Bueno, espero que lo hayáis entendido bien, si tenéis cualquier duda o sugerencia dejadme un comentario. Hi everyone!!

How are you guys? I’m really happy because Lireth gave me the opportunity to appear on her blog! This post will be on her blog as well. I recommend that you have a look at it beacause it's really nice! I hope not to disappoint her readers with this post!

This time I have a new tutorial for you. Do you want to make a beautiful clutch bag/toiletbag like this one? Keep reading then!

First of all we need to get the materials. We will need:

• Two pieces of fabric.
• Interlining fabric (if the other two pieces of fabric are resistant, it’s not needed).
• Two bits of Velcro.
• Thread, tailor’s chalk, scissors, sewing machine, pins, and A4 paper for the pattern.

First I drew the pattern. I stuck three pieces of paper together and the width of the clutch measures the same as the width (short edge) of the piece of paper. I drew the semicircle using a big plate. You can see the pattern that I used (by clicking here), although you can make it as you wish.

After that I cut the pattern and drew it on the three pieces of fabric (picture here). Now we have to sew the Velcro to the interior fabric, leaving about 4 cm to the edge of the semicircle (picture here).

After that we have to put the pieces of fabric together to sew them. First we place the interlining fabric, and then the other two pieces of fabric (the interior and exterior) facing each other. We have to put some pins so they don’t move and then we sew it with the sewing machine leaving 1.5 cm of sewing allowance. We have to leave a 4 cm opening (without sewing) for turning (by clicking here and here).

Turn the clutch right side out and close the opening with blind stitch. Then we iron it.

Now we have to fold it as you can see in the picture (click here), to make the shape that we want, and again we sew it with the sewing machine around the two sides and the semicircle.

The last thing that we have to do is to sew the other bit of Velcro (click here). I’ve also put a button that I had and suited it as an ornament (picture here).

So, what do you think of it? I love it to be honest, and the best thing is that you can give it lots of different uses. And the fabric is beautiful, isn’t it? Cojín - Cushion

¿Qué tal el finde? ¡Parece que por fin ha llegado el buen tiempo! :) 

Hoy he estado preparando algunos posts para esta semana, cosiendo un poco, haciendo algunos proyectos... ¡Tienen muy buena pinta!

Pero hoy me toca hablaros del nuevo curso al que me he apuntado. Supongo que algunos de vosotros conoceréis el blog "Oh Mother Mine DIY". A mi me chifla. Tiene muchísimos tutoriales que para las que nos estamos iniciando en el mundo de la costura vienen genial! Y además imparte cursos de costura. 

Ya llevaba tiempo queriendo apuntarme a algún curso, aunque ya sé hacer bastantes cosillas con la máquina gracias a tutoriales y vídeos que he visto en Internet. Pero creo que hay cosas que se aprenden mejor en un curso, cuando alguien te cuenta y muestra cómo hacerlo, y si te surge alguna duda o tienes algún problema está bien que alguien experto te explique por qué te ha pasado y cómo solucionarlo. 

Así que por fin conseguí plaza en el curso que Marta (la chica detrás de Oh Mother Mine DIY) imparte en Madrid. ¡Había lista de espera! Y la verdad que estoy muy contenta. 

El jueves pasado fue un poco la toma de contacto con la máquina, nos contó algunos truquillos e hicimos este cojín!

¿Qué os parece? La semana que viene vamos a empezar con un vestido para bebé, ¡que ganas!

How's the weekend going? Finally we got some good weather!! :)

Today I've been preparing some posts for next week, sewing a little bit, and making new projects... They all look really good!!

But today  I have to tell you about a new course that I joined last week. I guess that some of you already know about "Oh Mother Mine DIY" blog. I love it. It has lots of tutorials that are perfect for people who, like me, are starting to sew. And she also gives sewing courses.

I was thinking about taking up a sewing course, although I more or less know how to manage my sewing machine thanks to tutorials and videos that I've seen on the Internet. But I think that there are certain things that you learn better when someone teaches you and shows you how to do it, and if you have any doubts or problems  they can tell you why it happened and how to solve it. 

So I finally got a place on the course of Oh Mother Mine DIY, and I'm very happy about it!

Last Thursday, as it was the first day, we started using the sewing machine and she showed us some tricks that are good to know. And we made a cushion! (pictures above)

What do you think of it? Next week we are going to start making a baby's dress! Can't wait!

DIY collar de trapillo - Trapillo necklace tutorial

Vengo con un tutorial!! Os voy a enseñar a hacer este bonito collar de trapillo. ¿Preparados? ¡Vamos manos a la obra!

Lo primero, los materiales. Necesitamos trapillo (en este post podéis ver donde se compra), unas tijeras y nuestras manos!

EMPEZAMOS CON EL TUTORIAL:

Paso 1:

Cogemos unos 5 metros de trapillo y lo cortamos.

Paso 2:

Colocamos el trapillo alrededor de nuestra mano, como en esta foto. El final del hilo quedará a la derecha de la palma de la mano.

Pasamos el trapillo detrás del dedo índice, delante del corazón, detrás del anular, y delante del meñique.

Rodeamos el meñique con el trapillo por detrás y lo pasamos por delante del anular, por detrás del corazón y por delante del meñique. Y repetimos el mismo proceso de nuevo. Por lo que nos quedarían dos filas de trapillo alrededor de nuestros dedos.

Paso 3:

Ahora tenemos que coger el trapillo de abajo del meñique y sacarlo por encima del meñique. Después hacemos lo mismo con el resto de los dedos, de derecha a izquierda.

Por detrás nos quedaría así.

Paso 4:

Pasamos de nuevo el hilo por delante del dedo corazón y del meñique y después por detrás del anular y del índice, igual que habíamos hecho antes para tener las dos filas de trapilllo alrededor de nuestros dedos. Sólo que en este caso sólo tenemos que hacerlo una vez, porque ya tenemos  la fila que nos ha quedado anteriormente. Y de nuevo, sacamos la fila de abajo por encima de los dedos.

Tenemos que hacer esto las veces que queramos, nos irá quedando así. Para cerrarlo, sacamos las tiras de los dedos y pasamos el hilo de trapillo por los cuatro huecos y que así no se nos deshaga.

ENGLISH VERSION!

Hi!!! New tutorial this time!! I'll show you how to make this beautiful necklace!! Do you like it? So then, let's get on with it!

First of all, the materials! We need some trapillo (you can see where to get it on this other post), scissors and our hands!

TUTORIAL

Step 1:

We cut 5 metres of trapillo.

Step 2:

We put the trapillo around our hand, as you can see on this picture (click here). The thread end will be on the right side of our palm.

Pass the trapillo around the back of your index finger, and then in and out of your other fingers until you get to the pinkie (pic here). Now pass the thread all the way around your pinkie (pic here), and then in and out of your other fingers once again in the opposite direction (pic here). And we repeat it all again. So, at the end of these two steps we will have two rows of trapillo around our fingers, as you can see on this picture.

Step 3:

Now we grab the trapillo that is on our pinkie (the bottom row) and we take it off our finger over the top of the row above. And then we do the same with the rest of the fingers until the index finger. (Picture here)

On this other picture you can see how it looks on the back of your hand after having done this other step.

Step 4:

We repeat the first step, but only once, because we already have one row of trapillo around our fingers. Then we repeat the third step.

We have to keep doing this until we have the length that we want for our necklace (picture here). To finnish it, we take the trapillo off our fingers and we pass the thread through the four holes.
